Places for mfing with a barb?

I have made an mf barb who is currently lvl 75 and I only run trav. Are there any other good places for barbs to mf? Cows perhaps?

Not cows, unless you go nm. Hellcows just have too much life to be viable 'targets'. You would have to repair about 3 times per cowgame.
Acrane Sanctuary, right from the WP, walk up those stairs. Fire Eye should be there or in the room to the north west or in the room straight to the north.
Inner Coister, Bane Ash the skeleton. Often spectres at the start of the cathedral, run right past those, waste and hork Bane Ash near the altar.
Lower Kurast, from the WP, walk backwards towards the Flayer Jungle. There should be a lightning enchanted super unique treebeast waiting for you there.
Stoney Field, in the Carin Stones, Rakanishu and perhaps Griswald in Tristram since you're nearby.
Dark Woods, search for the tree of Inifus and mainly it's guard.
For XP, clear the Flayer Jungle and go down into the Flayer Dungeon if you're feeling lucky. At level 3 there is also a unique boss Flayer Shaman. It's a bit of a walk, but the actual dungeons aren't as big as Catacombs or Durance, so imho it's easy if you are XP'ing in Flayer anyway. Watch out for those chamion and unique stygian dolls though, they pack a much bigger punch then the normal ones you find in Durance. If you run into Ghosts/Spectres, try to lose them in the turns and passages. There should not be any Ghosts at level 3.

From my experience mfing wih barb and ive done A LOT of mfing, the best thing to do is simply solo hell cs. Only way to get a good drop more than once a year.

care to share your barb's level, and mf amount when so doing?

I've even gotten to doing the mini raids (killing infector/vizier) with the blizzer, taking out most of de seis' pals with said blizzer in semi-full games, then re-joining with the baba to carefully take out De Seis, and then D, and wearing the following: I've been disappointed with drops.

triple p topaz hat
angellic armor, ring, ammy
2x mf gloves (dual leach, dual 2x rez) 2x mf boots.

I've even used the mart to take D down, then quickly swapping it for a gull/15x bh to get another 100 mf and still am not very happy with the drops.

he's only lvl 87 tho.

ironically, if I have him, wearing all that mf, simply in the vicinity of D, and kill him via the laptop, with either my blizzer, or din, wearing essentially no MF, I at least more consistently get rares, and/or useful uniques.

My ladder mf barb is lvl 90, my nl barb is 91. Char level doesnt influence the drops though.
My ladder barb wears same gear as yours: gwrap, 2x mf gloves/boots, angelic armor/rings/ammy, 3 ptop helm, martel. Approximately 250 mf which is perfect for killing the seal bosses: most of the time you get 2 rares for the kill and 2 more rares if the pop is successful.
However, that amount of mf seems too high for Diablo ( I personaly believe that more mf is not always better in classic): with 250 mf i get a lot of uniques, sets and failed sets. Theres nothing more annoying than getting 100 dur exes and 120 dur martels all the time. If i were you I'd definately avoid killing Diablo with a gull in one hand if you already have 200 mf without it.
Obviously, you're not going to get good drops often but imo cs is where its going to happen the most. Ive done mf runs in just about all areas of the game many many times and it just seems like high level mods spawn a lot more often in cs, eventhough the monster levels arent much higher than in other areas of the game.

What do you guys find more effective? Flayer and Trav with an mf barb or Andy and perhaps Meph with a blizz sorc? Mf is not high at all, my characters are equipped with the most effective gear for survival.

The only reason I do trav runs is for gfing, but after spending about 50 million gold on gambling (with lvl 90 barb) and not getting 1 +2 priz ammy, I kinda gave up on it.

I HATE NOT GETTING ANYTHING GOOD FROM GAMBLING!! Yesterday I spent 3 million and I got absolutely nothing. I can solo cs but after a long time. My maul doesn't do enough damage and the surprise maiden gets me a lot. I feel that I can do about 5 Andy runs with my sorc in the amount of time I can do 1 cs with my barb. My hammerdin, on the other hand, can do cs fairly easily but I need to find something for my barb to do. He is mostly unused.

Barb Mf run -- Bone Ash, Fire eye, Stormtree, Travincial. wash repeat... All are fine to pop and all are quick for access....

I know I can solo cs it just takes me a while. Can you re-word that second part? I don't understand what you mean. I think you said that Coligula says that I don't do private cses anymore. You know Coligula?

Interesting suggestion. But the classic pit does not yield as interesting results as the LoD pit, since the classic pit's monster levels are lower afaik. But I shall give it a go sometime with my popper. Thanks for the tip.

The Pits in Classic don't have the benefit of the level boost that some areas have in LoD. In Classic, the pits are area level 57, in LoD, they are 85. So there there are two benefits to running the Pits in LoD- because of the high alvl, high level characters can get decent experience there without things being too hard to kill, and the monsters can drop from very high treasure classes (champions and uniques from TC87, highest in the game.) But in classic the area level is 57 so it doesn't give experience any differently that other areas nearby and there aren't high TC groups with elite items. once my din hit lvl 91, my 4th, or 5th ammy I gambled, was a +2 din priz ammy... of course I traded it too cheap (like many items) assuming I could just gamble another...

as for the mfing via solo, thanks for the tips, I guess I was thinking that the char level does seem to have an impact on whether or not +2 ammy's fall in the cs. e.g. I've never seen one fall unless there was a 90+ character in said cs, and I've gotten a couple when csing with either my din, or once, when on my blizzer, I had a hunch that a certain din was raiding. I teleported in, and tried to steal his D kill. turns out, he got the kill, (and xp) but I got 2 of his drops, including a +2 ammy :laughing:

Yes, I most certainly do know him. He sits in our channel most nights. Not sure if he was the one who said it. Lots of people I know have a friends network completely separate from mine. That channel (op cswalk) is growing, slowly but surely, although it still is empty most of the day. At least we dont have lots of afk'ers like most channels do.

It seems like classic players are finally waking up and going into classic channels to avoid being dumped into the LoD ones.

Ye, I have been in that channel a few times before I re installed. I can't go in there anymore because I now have a muted cd-key. It was muted when I played LoD and I botted. Do you and him play often? I have probably run into you a few times if you do.

Muted cd-key, for how long? I don't know much about that penalty. We play every day, and yes, thats how I know you because we played in a few csruns a few months back. A large number of chars with the word 'Fear' in them are mine, although several people recently have started to use that word, they are mostly in nonladder.

Back to the thread: Trav runs in public games are pretty much for the mf aspect, not the goldfind - which is set from chests and monster drops. Mf seems to be better with more ppl in the game simply cuz there are more drops. I do it mostly for the gold and try gambling, but its an awfully long tedious process. I've spent over a year gambling my spare gold away, and I get lots of magical ammys with 20% priz and +2 skills, just almost never on the same rare. Probably a total of 2-3 priz ammys, which is depressing.

Interestingly, after my barb hit lvl 87, I decided to finally pump the finditem skill and start looting corpses. On the 2nd trav, out came a unique 'Full Metal Plate', from an ordinary council member.

Oh well, thanks anyways with the cd-key. I decided that I'm going to start adding more points to find item after my mace mastery is maxed.
