hi all, i have never played a sorc before so i dont really look on the sorc forums so dont shout if this has been asked before.....i know that an act 2 merc holding infinity breaks mostly all light immunes resists cos of the -85 res from conviction plus the extra -% light res stacked on top and i know it can only stack from what equipment the player is using...so am i right in thinking that if a cold sorce uses infinity will her -cold res from cold mastery stack on top of convictions -85res thought id ask befor i go ahead and make one just to find out it doesnt work...any feedback would be appreciated

Okay...

Scenario 1: Monster is not CI.
- CM and Conviction work at full power, what you refer to as stacking.

Scenario 2: Monster is CI, CI is broken by Conviction.
- Conviction works at 20%, making it reduce the Cold Resistance by 17%, then CM applies along with other sources.

Scenario 3: Monster is CI, CI is not broken by Conviction.
- Monster remains immune to all Cold attacks, depite CM.

cold sorc's mastery only works if a monster is not immune to cold (same with -res facets)

as said above you first need to break cold immunity, and infinity only works on cold immune monsters with cold resistance =< 116%

unfortunately, most cold immune monters have VERY HIGH cold resistance so in most cases their immunity is not broken at all, making convicton effectively useless (since you already have cold mastery and -100 is the resistance cap)

you can still make a cold sorc with infinity but in that case i would just put 1pt into cold mastery to avoid overstacking the -res
