Anyone have a pure fire sorc with a merc that uses Infinity? How effective is it? I have a lightning sorc that has a merc with infinity and recently I was doing some baal runs and saw this level 82 Fire sorc doing rediculous dmg with her fireballs/meteors, just want to know about Infinity and how it fares on Cold vs Fire vs Lightning sorcs? So far ive only tried it with lightning, I'd rather make fire over cold because fireballs look cooler than ice blast but i think blizz is better than meteor, but with infinity i could be wrong.. shrug..
advice?

Infinity is most effective for lightning sorcies, because the level 12 conviction aura doesn't break a lot of the fire and cold immunities later on in hell difficulty. For instance, in Baal runs, Death Lords, Doom Knights, and Minions of Destruction (three of the most dangerous melee monsters) have unbreakable fire immunities, while Hell Witches, Oblivion Knights, and Death Mages have unbreakable cold immunities. There are no lightning immunes unbreakable by Infinity in the throne of destruction (except the occasional boss), and rarely any in the whole game. This fundamental imbalance in D2 is the reason why pure lightning sorcies are preferred over pure cold or pure fire, why trapsins use lightning over fire, and why druids use wind over fire. If you are used to playing a pure lightning sorc, you will be shocked at how much tougher it is to slog through hell with pure fire or pure cold. Sorry, it's just how it is.

You will still have problem for LI monster if your lighting sorc has the merc carry the infinity. Your lighting sorc have to carry the infinity herself to be able to kill LI monster fast.

so far ive never had a light immune that i couldnt break with my merc carrying infinity and i kill relatively fast my light dmg is about 14k, althought i have yet to do hell baal runs so we'll see if i run into LI's that cannot be broken....
