Okay. I know grand charms need an ilvl of 50 to be able to be re-rolled into a +skill. How do I determine this ilvl?

Also, I see people trading Baal small charms and Baal grand charms every now and then. Is the popularity of Baal GC based solely on the ability to roll a high end Vita mod on it, or is there something else I'm missing? As far as SC, is it based solely on being able to roll Pesilent, or am I again missing something?

For baal grand charms there are 2 ways to tell

1) It has between 41-45 life on it(the best way)
2) Trust

As for ilvl 50 im unsure you could try looking at the possible affixs and see if any are close to 50 only.

If you are just looking for skillers and want to reroll any charm just go to hell and find one the chances aren't that different.

Baal gcs are for the vita mod which is used as proof.
baal scs are less popular and you are correct again it's for pestilent.
ilvl 50 I think you'll better find one yourself in a lvl 50 zone, there is a link in the Statistics FAQ for zone lvls.

So ilvl of a dropped charm = area level where it dropped? As if I find one in the Ancient Tunnels, it's ilvl 85?

Not quite, ilvl = level of the omnster that dropped it. In most cases however,
mlvl = area level (+2 for champs, +3 for uniques and their minions) so any found
in tunnels should be ilvl 85, 87 or 88.

Some superuniques/bosses have their own levels though, like Baal and Nihla.

You can also use a 3rd party program, although we can't discuss them here.

I use one. It keeps me from having to worry if that GC I had on a character from months ago that I think is ilvl99 is really worth rerolling 500 times, or if I'm going to spend all those gems rerolling an ilvl 20 charm. I wouldn't call this cheating at the same level as maphacks, bots, or duping, but some might.

Oh, and all 3rd party programs are evil.
