How much Dex does my Druid need to achieve max block when wearing a 'Spirit' Monarch? I just want to know it it's worth it.

Edit: Thanks in advance :wink3:

Worth it? Negative, unless you have an Amulet with +2 Druid/10% CtB.
At level 80+, we're talking 300+ Dexterity.

Why would you ever use a spirit on a druid anyway, if you've got a wind druid, use Stormshield, unless your lookin for alot more FCR to hit the 99fcr bp. Which only requires you change the rings.
Simply put, don't bother with max block on Spirit. IF your stubborn about getting max block on your Druid with spirit then:
Total blocking = (shield block %) * (dex - 15) / (level * 2)
I don't know the exact % of block a spirit monarch has but I'm assuming it will be 42% for druids which at level 80 would be - (42%)*(286-15)/(80*2) = 74.98125 which means 286 Dex would be the minimum dex you need to have max block at 80, which is pitiful.

You made a mistake; you mean just 286 without the -15, or (301 - 15).

I mean 286 as in his dexterity. Pretty sure it wasn't a mistake but if it was, I stand corrected.
If you put 301 into the mix then..
Total blocking = (shield block %) * (dex - 15) / (level * 2)
(42%)*(301-15) / (80*2) = 78.91875 which is above and beyond what you actually need to obtain 75%

Thank you both very much! I'm not making a Windy, but an Aldur-Summoner-Funbuild . Is it still not worth it if I can get +130 dex from my gear alone? Or do only hard points in Dex count up towards max block?

301 - 15 = 286
80 * 2 = 160
286 * 0.42 = 120.12
120.12 / 160 = 0.75075 = 75%
I think you're forgetting to subtract the 15 from the total Dexterity.
@Bugatron: Unlike synergies, each point of Dexterity regardless of its source will count towards your block percentage. If you can get +130 from gear, then yes, you can probably go with max block.

301 - 15 = 286
80 * 2 = 160
286 * 0.42 = 120.12
120.12 / 160 = 0.75075 = 75%

Nah..I'm doing in a TI calculator and each time it says that, so you don't need quite 300 dex at level 80, but a not so likeable amount anyway.

Okay, unless your calculator is wack, I am certain you have the math wrong.
I just tried with PPR's Calculator (http://dpw.bounceme.net/block_calc.html), DK's Calculator (http://www.diabloii.net/files/utilities/maxblockdex.zip), and a Random Calculator (http://d2x.dk/?page=block_calc).
They all agree that at level 80, with a 42% blocking shield, you need 301 Dexterity.
At any rate, if I still can't convince you that your math is wrong beyond this point, there is not much I can do.

answer is 301 for goodness sake
learn to use the calculator and what brackets mean
its 42 * (301-15) / 80*2
this is 42*286/160 = 75.075 = max block = 301 for max block
you have clearly done : {(42*301)-15}/160 = 78.91875 = wrong

Notice how I said if I made a mistake, I stand corrected, simply put read folks. Whether its 286 or 301, the point of the post was to ask if he should go max block on a Spirit, both 286 and 301 are absurd amounts for a level 80, 301 is correct, again I stand corrected, as said. Thanks for the flames.

sorry but you have now learned how to use brackets and how to calculate
you kept arguing even when showed the absolutely correct method by omgwtfbbqpwned (without showing his error)
therefore you didn't stand corrected when wrong
it took me showing your exact error before you accepted it and complained.
not sure about the avatar comment i think its the :thumbsup easy: look :)

There was no complaint, theres your error.

you complained about being flamed when instead you were being corrected and educated after arguing - theres yours.
