Ya all my good stuff on ladder and most charms on nonladder are all gone. There was only one person that knows my password.. KIBA
I know he most likely didnt take my stuff. Because he has all his own stuff as well. But still whats up with this.

1. sage-necro,bk-sage, and theres a 3rd acct i know they have. Lets just say i dont like this person.
2. it was the same person that got on the acct that was donated to wolfpack. Even tho I was able to make a werewolf out of the stuff. And gave the charms away to a low itemed using member on nonladder. The only resson why I would belive this is because that person took the same kind of stuff that was stolen from that acct. Ebotd runewords that are commonly known as good.
3. Some one that put some kind of hack on my computer it has been acting up. So not shure.
Ill talk more latter im remaking accts.

I did find spyware on my computer, meduim threat lvl. It didn't have anything about hellokitty on it so umm nope.
Ink just got home and he is going to check his acct as well when he goes to work. This is going to at least take up to next year to get my onladder werewolf up to par with everyone else, again. At least they didnt get to my mule accts.
I still think its most likly a bruteforce going around.

Bruteforce sounds very viable, as some of the people who got hacked did not report any spyware/trojans/viruses/worms. I sure hope not, though. If someone is able to force their way into someone's account just by using the internet, then basically everyone who has more than 100 HR's worth of items on their ladder account is in danger of losing theirs.

Well, to shed some light on this (I hack for a living on almost a daily basis), I think it's a bit of "lucky password guessing" more than actual bruteforce. It's very time consuming, and the more failed attempts you have, chances are you'll get an IP ban.
The solution is very simple: Create stronger passwords. Avoid getting hacked by creating a new account with a strong password (one that is at least 8 characters long, and contains several elements), and start moving all your stuff. Regardless, if the person that hacked your account is a friend, then it's relatively easier to guess your password. For all intents and purposes, do NOT use 123456, 654321, a, 911, letmein, stud, eastcoast, or anything else that makes a hacker's job all that much easier.
I can't even begin to imagine how it feels to log on one day to realize that all my valuable, hard-earned, stuff is missing!
Go ahead and re-build... Either that, or wait for D3!

Very informative post, tech. Would you happen to know if it is possible to somehow track someone's password-typing online, without the use of a keylogger? For example using java to pull up info? I had a site pull up my internal IP address even though it's supposedly masked. I had every port stealthed, as well.

Well last night I ran into that *Sage-necro guy with his barbarian, and when I killed him 4 times, he ran to get his necro, then he managed to get a kill on me and NK like no other.
Point of my rambling is that he threatened to hack me and he seems to have a short temper. I believe he did it.

If 1 in 100 people who threaten to hack in D2 could hack the game would be full of these things happening. That and i presume that most people who do know how to hack have enough intelligence not to go around stating that fact. Just because someone's an immature loser doesn't mean you should take his e-threats seriously.

The strange thing about this is that they seamed to take the same kind of items from another acct I was given. A wile back. Changing accts over would be rough. What were the actual names of his characters? The barb and the necro in question, I think I may have duelled the necro at some time.

Err.. Track your password typing online? I don't know about you, but that's a scary thought!
As far as I know, the only way to do this remotely is if I've taken control of your router. Normally, protocols such as SNMP are enabled on the router and this protocol just doesn't know how to shut up! In any case, regardless of the language was used to determine your IP, it's still possible. Again, it's your router's fault.
Think of it this way: When you tell the router to fetch a website for you, it "tells" itself who to send the data back to (basically, your PC's IP). I would have to research this a bit more tho...

This is an age-old story... "I know what I have to do, I just can't be asked to do it!". Perhaps the hacker is not the only one to blame for an easy hack.

This kid on East who was on my friends list, although I haven't known him long, attempted to do me a "good deed" 2 days ago by sending me his version of the "new maphack", which even said it on the program. Lets just say, it turned out to be a drop program and I lost my Azurewrath, Nigma, 1shape/16lifer, and IK gloves.... luckily I was able to make a few grueling trades to get back and I still had storm, but still...... ouch

Bnet has a way against brute forcer : after failed 3 logins or so, you won't be able to log back for like some time ... so to be hacked in d2 account, password has to be known.
And you also have a login log of how many failed login has been tried on the account once you login yourself.
So i guess it must be key loggers in most of the times .... if your friend is trusted.
Or did you access your account on other people house's computer?? ( where they have keyloggers installed )

I was jacked about a week and a half ago... and I only go to diabloii.net/battle.net forums and occasionally arreat summit... at least recently..

Sad to see many diabloii.net members getting hacked, pure concidence or someone from diabloii.net (HOPEFULLY NOT) leaking out our data ? I still do not know, what i do know is that im actually sad that WEST has degraded to such a level.
For other moderately and really rich dudes ( moderately rich = under 100 hrs of wealth) be extra careful, the hackers will not only attack super rich fellows but they struck me as well who is at the moderately rich level. I will not trust anyone on my FList nowadays except maybe Sirdoofuss since he was a great guy.

Yeah I've met with Sage-Necro on West, he seems like the type to do that sorta thing. He ruins every game I'm in with his necro. Hope you get everything back in order, you and Kiba are the reason I switched to the druid as my primary class.

Ya werewolves tend to be the underdogs of the dueling seen. Because most people still belive the build is horrable. Another great thing about the build is that wile playing it you will find your reposonces about your guy will be muti in effect of the players you meet. If your guys really good they will be like "WOW" I would use other words but shouldnt. And if your doing crappy people will just be like what did you expect, they Blow and other words they might use.

@Puma, yeah in 1.10 when I had a pretty good fury wolf up, the responses varied with who I played with, I'd get responses that complimented me, and the typical pubbies who, even though died alot, continued to shout newb, and ebay!
Even though their the underdog, they CAN win alot of those duels where they are the underdog.

Ya I used to get alot of challanges to duel my last wolf. Some where fun others where annoying. Like the last time I got challenged by a vindacator in a high lvl baal run. Everyone started dueling. Then it was just the vindacator, some zon, and me. I won all the fights. The vindacator showed some love for my wolf. And the zon just keeped on hatting on me for him.

i shared 2 accs with a friend and we got into a fight about a girl, i got the
girl he stole the accs (the girl wassent worth it :cry: )

Keylogger Scams and Account Security
We'd like to make the community aware of a recent account-theft scam that is being circulated through email, game forums, in-game chat, and other mediums. This scam involves fake URLs, or hyperlinks, that once clicked will install harmful "keylogging" software intended to steal your World of Warcraft account name and password. After the creators of these keyloggers steal this information, they log into your account, immediately change your password to lock you out, and then sell all of your items and transfer all of your gold.
The scam comes in many forms, including URLs advertised as links to class guides, gameplay videos, and in many cases user-interface (UI) modifications. As a general rule, be extremely wary of URLs ending in ".jpg.html" and ".scr," as in many cases the harmful software is being hidden at locations that end with these extensions.
For these reasons, it is very important that players take caution when being directed to outside websites and update the security on their computers accordingly. To secure your computer, we suggest adding some Internet security to your system (for example: a firewall and anti-virus scanner). If you are unsure what security measures to take, discuss the issue of system security with your ISP or a trained Network Administrator for the solution that is right for you.

Also, if you suspect you got keylogged. You could always copy + paste your password into the password box when logging in.
I did that for a month or so while I pasted the password onto a folder (or a word document) so I simply copy and paste.

heh... he just changed it recently (when the forums got a new server).
This is why I always play pubby / trade with a panzy account with minimal characters, and keep my actual goodies and gfg chars on private accts that very few people have seen. My best has only been allowed to enter private baals & cvc tournys.
Puma i'm shutting down my fc bear on lad if you want some rubbish. I'm pretty sure you can have most of his gear.
I also have that crappy etomb if you want it.
