Confused about Fireclaws

So I was fooling around on single player the other day and noticed that my fireclaws does damage to fire immunes. Hows that? My fire sorc couldnt put a dent into them, is it because fireball is a spell? I thought fireclaws was just pure fire.

most of the damage is fire property, however u also must consider the physical damage from your weapon..
