i read in a guide that for 4 frame attack with phase blade u put 2 shaels and 3 fervor jewels in it, but why put fervor jewels in when they have 5% ias less than shael? if you have more than 2 shaels in something do they not work?

No, most people put X Jewel of Fervor, normally +AR. So you get 20 IAS, 20 IAS, 15 IAS +1xx AR, etc. Overall that setup is better since the added IAS from the Shaels would be wasted.

bears need 4 shael 2 ias in phase for 4frame
wolves need ~65ias for 4 frame = dont use shaels+ias jewels as can be achieved via 'real' weapons with damage (eg gris weapon etc)
check the ias calc in the sticky

I bet it was Apoq's guide from 1.09 when almost all maulers used that kind of phase with an eth rune in it.

Hm, is that weapon still viable? For PvM I can see it working wonders but is the -12% def worth it for PvP?
