Now I thought I've read somewhere that there was an issue with ES not working properly, but I can't find it. Can someone please refresh my memory?

Afaik, it works properly.

no problems I know of either. It just takes a lot of skill points to make it work properly.

The only thing you could have heard was that ES does dirvert your damage to mana before your resists are factored in. This isn't a bug of flaw though, just made that way by design.

it works, but a good charge will tear all the way through you - ES or not.

I can't take screenshots for some reason, but I've been charged by those monsters in Froen river and my life went down but strangely my mana didn't.
