People do this a lot after festivals in Ireland ... and it does cheer you up.

One of the comments I particularly liked:
This is amazing... truly beautiful.
It reminds me of all those silly ideas I had when I was younger, when I was going to save the world, and makes me think that maybe they aren't so silly after all.
And I signed up to YouTube just so I could tell you that.
And what the hell? A YouTube video with good music?
Still curious as to how they 'banned' that.
Either I am another emo kid or then I'm a girlyboy or then something's odd with that video.
It
First) Made me smile
Second) Almost made me cry
Third) Made me laugh at the police who banned free hugs

Wait a minute, he's not claiming he started free hugs? Like I said it's been going on for year's after festivals over here... I suppose it doesn't matter.

Or none of the above. What he did was spread universal love for man to everybody. Any bet Fred Phelps wouldn't want a hug?
I was moved by this too. It's good to see a little humanity in the news again.
Thanks Juan for giving some of us a better day.
That was sweet, but my FIRST thought was "alternatively, would he usually charge for hugs, but today they're a special offer?"
I'm like that I'm afraid.
I'm also the sort of person who does hand out hugs when people least expect 'm, scared a few people off like that.
that really made my day.. thanks for sharing

I want to PUMP...*hits chest*...YOU UP!
This guy's got a good thing going... and same for anyone who does these things after a festival in Ireland.
I've considered doing something like this in Toronto, as well... could be interesting to see what happens.

Hop on a plane, we'll start "Free Hugs" here. We can do demonstrations for everyone.
Very touching video. Even the soundtrack managed to stay just this side of cheesy.
I think this guy is doing a nice thing, God knows most people need a hug more often than they can get one.
I do have one problem with his rules though:
Juan Mann (pronounced one man) is a play on words, but the hugger insisted his rules included no names, no phone numbers, no relationships and no dates.
No dates!? What is he thinking? The women of Sydney are fine and I'll willing to bet that many of them are absolutely smitten.
I kind of wish I was in Sydney right now.
Aside: It'll be interesting to see how this publicity affects that band.

I was at a festival in Ireland.
All I got were drunk guys trying to get me interested in them. And when they found they couldn't, they remained staring at my tits and asking me about my favourite footballteam, or call me a peeing dog.*)

Actually, maybe he's giving them hugs just because they're in Sydney.
Not worth it.

While he's reconsidering I'll take that hug.
And I wouldn't be apposed to a bit of groping while you're at it.

Sounds good to me. I must warn you however, it is getting chilly up here in Michigan. Living in Texas you may not be prepared. I'd have to hug you extra to make sure you didn't catch cold:wink3:
I thought the guy was going to be dead or something by the end of the video
