So I was driving to work today in my brand new 88 Volvo. Then as I turn in to the construction site I hear a loud crash.

Turns out that they have dug away 20% of the road where the mainroad connects to the construction area and left is a 1 meter deep hole, and my car now has one wheel in the air as I drove over the edge. Leaving my car stranded.

I get out of the car and look around. No one has seen it yet. so I jump down into the hole and with strength that only shear embarrassment can cause. I managed to lift the front of the car out of the hole and get it back on the road.

This was followed by me chassing down the car and hiting the break with my hand to stop it from rolling any further.

I noticed a warning sign just before the hole. The warning sign was flat on the ground. Ran over by a dump truck earlier.

Now people talk about strength that only a parent can muster when thier kid is in trouble. Or the kind of strength only madness can cause.

But I have to say. Embarrassment has them all beat hands down.

What's the exact car model? That's pretty impressive, did anyone see you do this? I could imagine the laughter, until you pick the car up and put it back where it belongs.

How did only one tire go over the edge? Did you get extremely luck and notice the hole just in time and slammed on the brakes? Or were you driving really slow and just not paying attention? Because if I were going slow and still went into the hole, Id be embarrassed as all hell.

Did you fix the sign before leaving?

First LOL:

I was driving to work today in my brand new 88 Volvo.

Second LOL (I feel horrible at your bad luck, Johnny)

I turn in to the construction site I hear a loud crash.

Third LOL:

This was followed by me chassing down the car and hiting the break with my hand to stop it from rolling any further.

Fourth LOL:

I noticed a warning sign just before the hole. The warning sign was flat on the ground. Ran over by a dump truck earlier.

I would've left the car there and sued the construction co. for damages. And pretended to have had whiplash. After all, it's their responsibility to ensure the warning sign that they put up remained up. *puts on a fake foam neck brace*

EDIT: Fifth LOL: The huge fog lights on the front of your Volvo. That's fantastic. They're really useful.

How did only one tire go over the edge?
I turned left into the construction site and the hole was on the far right side of the road and my front right wheel fell into it.

So you lifted your car he, let me know how your back feels tomorrow

(my dad and I tried to lift my car, one at a time, just for fun a while ago, seemed awesome, until the next day...)

Note: he was able to lift one wheel entirally from the ground, I was only able to stretch the entire spring and wheel, I might have gotten it about 1mm from the ground entirally though

I was just about to complain about not getting a jumbo 'tar, and then I saw that monstrosity. The consequences seem dire.

but from what it sounds like, he was able to put more force into lifting his car because he was in the little ditch.

1m hole is around 3ft, thad give some extra room to work, and with the other 3 tires on ground level would make it easier to lift the frame off the ground enough to roll back, and use the car to help lift the tire back on the road

does your new 88 volvo 745 have a turbo? makes for a fun grocery getter

Not mine.

But my brother has one with turbo and its super trimmed with near flat tires.

He goes through turns gliding sideways around them, though the car uses about 1.8l of gasoline per swedish mile (10 km) but it has 285 Horse Power.
