Bow gives a range of 1 i think..

Yeah bows are range 1
but if you namelock with any weapon it automatically goes to range 1

the namelock i'm fairly sure of,
eg. when i name lock smiters with my tomb reaver i never hit them, when i shift fury i always hit them, except if your opponent is running,
eg. if a sorc is teleing or a pally is charging away i think the range comes back into the equation

needs testing but i'm fairly sure of it

i'm pretty sure default range ISN't 1 personally. what you are experiencing using shift vs people is glitched attacking on the outside of a range.

The game does glitch out sometimes, but you are never going to see a range 5 attacking at range 1 unless the other guy is using a range 1 and you got "Tractor beamed" into his range because he got the first hit. That's a good reason to always shift, but namelocking a range 1 and getting the first hit will keep you at range 5.
