I want to make a lvl 29~30 Wake of fire assassin dueler, but there are no guides, so I would like suggestions or a critique done for the following build. Thus far, I have planned the following:

Helm: Pesant Crown (+1 skill, R/W is useful as well as the Energy and Vit)
Ammy: Mahim Oak (+1 skill)
Armor: Skin of Vipermagi (+1 skill, 30FCR)
Weapon: Spirit Long Sword (-10WSM, +2 skill, 25-35 FCR, FHR)
Gloves: Magefist (+1 skill, FCR)
Shield: Rhyme Bone Shield (for the CBF mod and max block attainable with 80 something dex)
Belt: Gold Wrap (for 10% IAS used to meet BP for 9 frame trap laying)
Boots: Infernostride? Sanders?
Rings: Sojs
Switch: ?
Sockets: ? Prubies for life, Pdiamonds for resists?

I plan to use BOS at all times.

With the above setup, the following is achieved:
+7 all skills, +8 fire traps
9 frame trap laying
good resists, i think
good r/w speed
max block
65FCR for mindblasting (go for 102? obtainable with 20FCR circlet)
48 FHR (go for 86? since i dont have WW?)
sufficient mana

Please find holes in the build. My main concern is what to do with the 2 open sockets from the helm and armor and also the switch. The switch weapon could be utilized to make this a wof/talon hybrid. Does anyone know how effective Open wounds is at low levels? Is open wounds even viable at low levels? The blood crescent scimitar sure looks like a good low level kicking weapon.

Also, what do i do against charging pallys besides namelocking and setting up my trap field? My namelocking skills are mediocre at best, so I'd like some ideas on that. This may be a dumb question, but could Shift+Talon work like it does for a wolf with Shift+Fury?

Thanks in advance.

If this isnt a budget build swap the Peasant crown for a rare circ with:

+2 Traps
20 FCR
30 FRW
2 Open Sockets

If you are dueling pubbies then use PRubies as the sockets. If privates where the duels will last longer use Skulls. If I'm not mistaken a PSkull is better than a PRuby after 19 seconds in a duel...This number could be wrong though.

Rest of the gear looks ok though.

Get an insight stave or scythe on switch., rather helpful indeed.

I'd advise against a DT / WoF hybrid at 30 or 29, although it IS possible. OW works ok vs people who don't know how to make LLDs. Vs a good LLD with 1k life or more it wont work well at all...

Shift Talon is terrible as well I must say

posted by me in ep forums for lvl29 wof-sin:

Items:
- Spirit longsword (35fc) !! (best base ias for laying traps) (fc/mana/mag abs variable)
- Sanders boots or rare 30frw 5dex resi @ sharkskin boots if you are going to kick sometimes.
- String of ears
- 2*Sojs
- Rhyme Grim shield
- Magefists
- 1assa 20-30frw/20fc @ circ
- 1assa/life/mana @ amu
- Viper 35/13
- inv : 5run/10-12mana scs, Rest life/mana sc's (max = 15/12)

--> You need 102%fc breakpoint for best MB useage.
--> Socket PR/PSapp/PSkull.

Skilling:
- Max WoF
- 1BoS
- 1 Shadow Warrior
- 1 Dragon Flight (important!)
- rest in synergies of WoF

Stats:
- str: for items
- dex: for maxblock
- vit: rest
- en: nothing

Don't get confused of the low dmg in your char display. It will be around ~200 (+-20).

If you plan on going hybrid with kicks, try to get some crushing blow. OW is not really high on such low lvls. (i think 6dmg/sec or so)

What are people's impressions of Handscythes for the +skills (Assuming lvl 30 of course)? I mean, do the advantages of Spirit + Rhyme outweigh a potential +10 WoF?

Too hard to get hand scythes in my opinion. If you CAN get them, then they are certainly worth it though, giving a massive increase to damage.

I actually gave that a thought while planning this. Certainly the dmg output is great, but I felt it had too many drawbacks. Not only are the right claws hard to find, I dont like their requirements and feel that I lose too much FHR, resists, life, mana, and max blocking against melee. While claw block blocks all attacks, I just dont feel comfortable with a 4X % block, unless of course the hand scythes have +weapon block mods on them =).

and you cannot clawblock while running/walking and u got no possibility to tele (except for 2handed sorc staff with charges :>) ;)

i would go for spirit/grim shield.

btw another sin build i never tested but might be interesting is with kicks and baselvltraps with 42 or 65fc and fast traplaying speed. (like a speedersin w/o tele and ww :>)
maybe worth a try. would require some eq changes ofc.

Because I am nice, if you are on USWest NL I can throw a pair of +2/30ias Blade Talons at you. 1 socket though (Bad evil Larzuk).

Interesting idea Moritz, but seems the FCR seems redundant as generally LLD sins just don't have the mana to spam MB. So it would just be a LLD kicker that could stun? Seems like a waste of skill points to me (Unless you are using a claw with MB?)

my lld sins had 1k mana ;)

so it shouldnt be a great prob to maintain the stunlock at all. with some mana reg
