View Full Version : defense calculated on armors
Superior eth armors confuse me
suppose it is a superior eth sacred armor with a base def of 600 (the highest you can have)
is it +65% ed, making the armor 990 def?
or is it first +50% ed on the 600 and then +15% after the eth bonus has already been applied? (1035 def)
Or is it some other formula?

It's 50%ed, then 15%ed on top of that, or a net %ed of:
[(1.5 * 1.15) - 1] = [1.725 - 1] = 72.5%.
Just a note: any superior armor that spawns with enhanced defense will automatically have the highest base defense possible.
thanks a bunch

wow i never knew that...does it work for superior weps too?? :azn:
Àctually, ANY armor (not just superior) that spawns with ED will have max defense+1 as base defense. (Even IK armor with its hidden 50%bonus) For an eth sacred, that base is 901.
There is no point in calculating the "net %ed" of armors, because the moment its made into a runeword with %ED or socketed with a pul rune, only the actual base defense counts, and the superior ED is added together with that of the rune(word).

Weapons always spawn with the same min/max damage, UNLESS they are superior (which can enhance the damage by 5-15%) or low quality (which screws the damage totally over).

That was merely to demonstrate how stacking 15%ed on top of 50%ed results in higher defense than simply adding the two together before applying them.
