I want to make a kicker/fire trapper, I only see a kick/light trapper in stickies, so I want some help/thoughts on layouts, ioncluding gears, as she will be un-/semitwinked, also, this is in single player, but im using a mod that enable's ladder only tw's so thats about gear restrictions.
Thanks in advance.

With the right gear, kicks are fine for PvM.

I'm not sure if you can kill well enough with fire traps, lightning has better damage overall and corpse explosion from death sentry.

I shall honestly say that I've never tried this build but I think it should be good enough to finish the game with. I assume that it's DTalon we talk about here since fire traps + DTail is a horrible combination.

If I would build such a character untwinked it would look something like...

Skills
18 Dragon Talon (to get 4 kicks)
20 Fire Blast
20 Wake of Fire
20 Wake of Inferno
1+ Death Sentry (remaining points would be invested here)
1 Blade Fury, Claw Mastery, Weapon Block, BoS, Fade, CoS and MB.
1 in each of the prerequired skills.

Total: 91 points (finished at level 80)

Note that I left out Shadows because I personally don't like them. Feel free to use them if you have another point of view. I guess you know how to use the skills so I skip that part.

Stats
I would probably go claw/claw to make it easier to distribute the stat points. It's a good idea to keep a pretty large pool of points unspent to be able to adjust for different equipment.

Strength: 75-100 (enough for eq.)
Dexterity: 75-100 (enough for eq.)
Vitality: The rest.

The downside with going Claw/Claw is that there's no easy way of getting CBF (Rhyme shield).

Items
This is what I would aim for...

Weapons: One claw with the RW Strength as primary to get CB for DTalon and a secondary claw with as much +skills/trap skills as possible. Or possibly two trap claws on switch. If the switch is left free, it can be used for a weapon/wand with charges of Life Tap or Lower Resist.

Helm: +skills, resistances, life etc. Circlets and the RW Lore come in mind.

Amulet: +skills, resistances.

Armor: resistances. The RW Smoke is excellent.

Gloves: crafted Blood gloves with as much CB as possible.

Rings: leech, AR, resistance, life, stats.

Belt: resistances, life, stats, FHR.

Boots: I see two options here. Either shop, gamble and craft until you get a pair of high-end boots (Myrmidon Greaves or Mirrored Boots) with -%requirements or settle with a pair of the lighter elite boots. Look for: FRW, resistances, FHR and/or stats.

Well, I hoped it helped a little anyway.

Good Luck!

Thanks alot kefir, but I think that if I am kicking I'd prefer a shield with max block, and also a shadow, might need more points but meh, and the 1+ pt in death sentry is prolly very good idea, since the CE does not change much with more points anyway, or does it?
And also, if I go twinked, what gear should you suggest? :)

erm the CE dmg does change alot, if u take a highly dmged area like cows, and then if u doubled for AOE area, you would dealing 4 times more dmg per cast b/c it would be hitting 4 times as many cows,

CE traps have a base area of 3.3 yards, my dsentry traps have a AoE of 12 yards, this means that the hard skills and +skills i get increases the AoE area 16 fold, if the aera was full denselly populated then the CE traps would do 16 times, the dmg! thats 15000%... howeva that isnt v likely, whats more useful about the increase in AoE is the range, which means that ud 'see' the effect more, handing out dmg to a small area compared~1/2 the screen is a big difference

hmm, you made me very torn apart in the traptype choice :P I've tried lightning traps, but they are damn good, at the same time as i wanna try something new, :P

If you want a SM I suggest either one hard point or enough to reach the slvl11 bp (I'm considering a twinked build here). 1 hard point in Death Sentry is good enough with some +skills. I suggested investing the rest of the points in it because it's also a synergy to WoI.

And also, if I go twinked, what gear should you suggest? :)
Here's a suggestion for a twinked setup:

Items
Helm: Harlequin Crest.
Amulet: Mara's Kaleidoscope.
Weapon: Stormlash, Fleshripper, Kingslayer... something nice with CB.
(Weapon Switch: dual trap claws.)
Armor: Skin of the Vipermagi.
Shield: Stormshield.
Gloves: Crafted Blood.
Ring1: Raven Frost.
Belt: Whatever (Thundergod's Vigor is nice for gloams).
Ring2: Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band.
Boots: Gore Rider (upgraded)

Skills
18(24) Dragon Talon (5 kicks)
20(30+) Fire Blast
20(30+) Wake of Fire
20(30+) Wake of Inferno
1(11+) Death Sentry (remaining points would be invested here)
1 Claw Mastery, Weapon Block, BoS, Fade, SW, CoS and MB.
5(11) Shadow Master
1 in each of the prerequired skills.

Finished at level 84. Note that the skill placement in Dragon Talon and Shadow Master might be different if you choose another item setup or add skill charms. I also removed Blade Fury from the build to save some points.

edit: Lightning traps are generally better but you'll definitely get the style points for going with fire traps. Getting past Chaos Sanctuary without Blade Fury might be a little tricky with this build. Adding it will mean the character finish at level 86.

But isn't it wof that are used by fire trappers? I though of woi as a joke, maybe I am superwrong here :P

Anyway, thanks alot (again) kefir, for the item sugg.

AFAIK WoF is used by most fire trappers, but that's because they play PvP. Very few use them in PvM. There's also a rumor that WoI is bugged in the same way as Inferno and Artic Blast but according to a very interesting thread over at the AB that's false. I think you'll end up using both; WoF against hordes of small monsters with low hp and WoI for the harder ones.

You're welcome.

Good luck. Btw, it seems that I made an error earlier in this thread. The affixes Simplicity and Ease can't spawn on boots. :sad2:

And oh, she will be untwinked after all. :)
