Just what the title says. I'm looking for a blizzard sorceress who has seen it all and done it all. Should I pump vitality or should I go for max block and get the dex. Thank you kindly.

It depends a little on what shield you're using - and its block percentage. A Whistan's Guard is a different story than a Lidless Wall, etc.

Personally though, I'm no longer a big fan of block - I'd go with Vit

DonŽt insert any stats into dexterity. Find a good shield (Liddless wall, Head hunters Glory...) and cast Shiver Armor. Hire a Barbarian, heŽll block instead of you. YouŽll spend more potions to heal him, then on yourself. For a hell sorc, IŽll just advice you to have one spell in all trees maxed out. (Chain lght, Frozen Orb, Meteor, etc)

"Hire a Barbarian, heŽll block instead of you."

better yet, use an Act2 Merc, a nm holy freeze would be my choice.

With the act2 mercs, you get a nice range of polearms with auras to benefit a sorc greatly. Insight and Infinity are the biggies.

I'd personally go max block IF you are using a shield with decent block. If you are going to use Spirit, then it is a waste of points.

I vastly prefer max block over max vit. Sorc's get 2 HP per every 1 vit point, woot? The survivability is considerably higher IMO with Block and you can come out around the same HP in the end.

I love the little shield that could...Whistan's Guard from the Orphan set for max block. Very easy to find yourself or to trade for and saves a lot of stat points in dex.

I think in some situations max block is better and in some cases max vita is better, but overall I prefer max block. It is hard to pass up spirit though, especially i the build needs lost of fast cast.

if going more cast rate, then go spirit since it has that very nice 55fhr also.
ss for max block sorcs since it has good dr.

We all know that getting high resists and absorb is easy, and what kills sorcs is (should be) Physical attacks.

Having max block compared to no block is like quadrupling your hp against melee attackers. That's better than bo, people, and it stacks.

i went for max block on my first blizzard sorc of this ladder season. i use her to run hell meph, which she is usually able to do without any drama. however, occasionally she gets block locked by those annoying undead dolls which can be irritating. the good news is that i manage to get away (barely), but i know that without block i may very well have died anyway as had i used the points in vit as opposed to dex, the small increase in life would probably have made very little difference (solo and without CtA the increase in life is not really that great ~ i would estimate about 300).

the irony is that if i had the 55 fhr of spirit i would probably get away easier, but then i might have died in a few hits anyway.

my advice to you is that if u can afford spirit (or are planning to be able to afford) go for no block, otherwise you may as well get block and grab a whitstans guard and then still have loads of stats points to invest in vitality anyway

Spirit is fairly cheap, once you have the shield - and 4-socket monarchs aren't that rare because everyone saves them. So, I'd recommend going for blocking, but not based on the cost of getting a Spirit shield.

SS is the best deal in high-blocking shield due to the nice resists and DR. Whistan's is nice and cheap, but I can't see choosing it over SS.

Agreed. Vitality is a big rip-off for sorcs. Blocking is a great deal for preventing physical damage.

Depends on your playing style. If you tend to find yourself in the thick of things then I would go max block. If you are adept at keeping your merc between you and the badies then I would go vita.

I personally tend to go with block and make up the vita with charms but again that tosses out 2 very useful shields in lidless and spirit.

yeh i meant for low level, but i was in a rush to post before:rolleyes:

and the runes are cheap, but i was just thinking it might be more expensive if you were to buy a 35% fcr 1 rather than make it yourself as this would save time - but i guess u could get lucky and make a 35% 1

EDIT: editted some typos
