What is the fire damage duration? When my meteor was level 2 I believe the duration was only 2 seconds. Now I have my meteor maxed and the duration of the fire seems way longer. Anyone knows the formula? :innocent:

Thanx in advance

Hmm I did some more testing...

Lvl Time(s)
21 13
22 14
24 15
27 17

Hmm can't make anything out of that.

But the reason I wondered was: if Inferno is a worthwhile synergy?
Meteor reaches 1000 dmg per second easy. Thats alot of damage in 17 seconds. Now the question is does the 3% fire damage per level add up to the bonus from fire mastery or does it multiply?

If it does multiply. 1000 dmg per sec goes up to 1600 Dmg per sec.
If it doesn't. 1000 dmg per sec goes up to 1200 Dmg per sec.

Note: this is done very quickly with very rough values.

Any ideas/comments/answers are welcome

Just fool around with the Meteor skill tab's levels, it has the duration for each level, starting at 1.2 seconds.

and Inferno as a synergy? Well, IMO, the thing that kills with meteor is the big bang, not necessarily the flames after. Probably not worth the skill points.

I put to Inferno on my old Meteor sorc, but I found the difference unnoticable, at best. I wouldn't mind so much if Inferno was actually useful.

yes, the actually impact is what does the damage, the only good thing is that the meteor flames stack, so that if u moat mephy, just cast like 5 meteors and then just sit bak n wait till he dies (which doesnt take very long)

Just so i'm not starting a new thread, why use meteor instead of hydra? i have yet to see a single guide that uses hydra as the fire skill, they're all either meteor or fireball... what gives?

Meteor and fireball synergizes each other, so the damage will be greater... Also, fireball is spammable, whereas the others are on a timer.

Hydra also doesn't do strong single-hit damage like Meteor. All Meteor takes is one solid aim and bam - easily 20K damage.

The good thing about Hydra is that you can set it and forget it. I like both skills, personally.

Well, they both have their advantages. Meteor may do bigger damage on a solid hit but you can also miss entirely if the target is moving. Hydras can be used to scout and to fire around corners. Hydras are a lot like an assassin's traps so if you like to play a trapper you'll probably like a hydra sorc.

Yeah, I always liked how you can cast Hydra around a corner and fry Black Souls

And how Meteor can absolutely crush a melee mob.

Hydra also has it's uses in PvP, with a pure fire hydra sorc you could use Fire Bolt and hydras, and your opponent wont know (easily) which are the weaker hydra's bolts or the stronger sorc's bolts, since they look the same. Of course, vs decent players and absorbers it's a nigh on useless tactic.
