View Full Version : Is FireWall still viable?
I was wondering if FW could still be an option?
Thinking about maxing FO/Ice Bolt, than FW wich require no synergies.. This would let me points to.. spread out somewhere like masteries/static/armor/tele etc.. lol :P
Maybe i should follow and use meteorb :P

well, you'd get bonus points for not using a cookie cutter build. But both your main attacks are timered. It should work, if all you need it to do is to kill the CI's. You'll probably need a good merc to be able to hold the enemies in the flames.

I built a FW/FO sorc last ladder, just for the heck of it. It works, but the timers suck. You'll need a good merc to keep the monsters in place. Casting parallel FWs and making monsters follow you as you walk down the FW is inefficient.
I would instead recommend FW/Blizzard/Glacial Spike. 20 into FW/FM/Blizz/GS and slvl 17 CM after +skills. This way, you can freeze monsters with GS, cast FW under them while they're frozen, and have Blizzard for bothersome monsters or those that cannot be frozen. You'll still have to rely on your merc for CIs though.

You don't need a merc. You can tank monsters yourself. Get a stone archon plate, equip stormshield and max chilling armor. Then stand next to monsters and burn them to the steak with firewall. Use defiance merc if you want even more defense.
Firewall has no synergies, so you can do..
20 firewall
20 fire mastery
20 chilling armor
20 orb
1 cold mastery and tele
100 strength, rest vita.
Use hotspur to take on ranged fire attacks, Thundergod for lightning attacks and Ravenfrost for cold attacks.
You should do fine with this :)

Really? How quaint...

Hmm... max chilling armour... and then stand within melee range to tank, and without max block. How very, very quaint...
A 20 point chilling armour offers a 140% defense bonus and fires off an ice bolt at ranged attackers. A 20 point shiver armour offers a 159% defense bonus and does 276-328 cold damage as well as chilling a melee attacker.
Considering that you propose your sorc does the actual tanking without a merc, chilling armour must be immensely superior. Never mind that it doesn't fire off ice bolts at melee attackers and offers a lower defense bonus. It must be better. It must be.....
Use defiance merc if you want even more defense.
Oh wait! We're using a merc again? Oh, this is just too quaint.....!

Fire Wall does high damage, but double timer = the suck, though the timer isn't too long for both skills. Fire Wall has always been viable in terms of damage for low skill points investment.
