Cold sorc using infinity with merc

Level 12 conviction aura -85% enemy resistance, functions at 1/5 effectiveness when breaking immunity.

I am excited about the prospect of using a blizz sorc with a merc using the infinity runeword. However, in hell, some monsters with cold immunity CANNOT be broken by infinity.

How do I overcome that?

Also, if I were to switch to a lightning sorc, will I face the same problem of not being able to overcome lightning immunity in hell?

Conviction works at 1/5 effectiveness against immunes. For Infinity, that means -17% resists against immune monsters, so anything with 116% or fewer resists will have their immunity broken. However, many cold immunes have much more than 116% cold resist, so their immunity cannot be broken even with Infinity. The only way is to use a secondary attack or let your merc poke it to death. :laugh:
Also, if I were to switch to a lightning sorc, will I face the same problem of not being able to overcome lightning immunity in hell?Luckily for you, most light immune monsters have 116% light resists or lower, so their immunity will be broken by Infinity.

evrae, you forgot about lower resist charges :P

but even with lower res and conv, the cold immunity would probably still be there for some monsters...
