I heard on another forum that FHR only happens when you have 1/12 your hp. Is this true?

you go into the hit recovery animation when you get hit by an attack that does more than 1/12 of your life damage (e.g. if you have 3000 life, if you get hit by an attack of more than 250 damage, you'll go into the hit recovery animation).
FHR mods on items speed this animation up, allowing you to get on with other things.

Kinda like when you're trying to level a 15 char in Hell CS. You just walk around watching your character doing dances and saying "Ooh! Ah! Ouch!"

And monsters too go into hit recovery when you hit them for 1/12 of their hitpoints or more. That doesn't happen as often as it used to, because of the raising of monster hitpoints in 1.10 and failure of many skills to do that kind of damage, in particular bowazons, who depended on hit recovery to prevent being swarmed. They still can take advantage of knockback and clegs, I guess, dunno havent made a bowazon in years.
Is it true that fire damage on a weapon always makes monsters go into fhr? I've seen people state this as the reason they socket a weapon with a Pruby.

as for "always" not if you have additional competing elemental damages as well.
I've seen some dual elemental damage weapons over the years, inflicting fire and cold damage, or for example if you have a belt that adds cold damage, or I think it's sparkling mail that adds electrical, and what, wyrmskull that adds poison damage?
I honestly don't know how the game decides which elemental damage "trumps" the others, and when, but as an example, when WWing through cows with mixed elemental weapong/armor/helm damages it seems that only one of the elemental damages is being applied (or at least applied 'last') as some in the herd end up poisoned, some frozen, and some 'knocked back' with that fire sound.
it's honestly been a while since I experimented with it though, but as an example, I also have an exe-er with a couple of 6 socket exe's
for ****sngiggles, he's got one that has 6 p emeralds, and one that's 6 p topazs, plus a legit 201 exe with added fire dmg, his belt also adds cold damage., with some muling, I could toss hotspurs, wyrmskull, frosties, and sparkling mail on him, do some cows, and see if I can confuse the game with the various elemental damages flying at once from each ww :wink3:

All elemental damage on your gear is applied, and the game determines randomly which one should show it's damage animation - so it's random whether you get the fire burst, lightning burst, and cold burst. Outside of that, it's all about duration on your cold/poison effects.
About fire damage - no, it doesn't always put things into fhr. Crushing blow, however, does.. or at least makes it more likely.

I had a thread in the Statistic forums that went unanswered, questioning whether is 1/12 per attack or per frame...
