Newbie evaluation thread

i decided to make this thread so as to not spam the main with newbie questions, these are some things i heard on the bnet and read here

blinks = 2 gulls ? (from the people i tried to trade nowhere near what i read on main thread)

Price for these items depends on who you trade with. Someone that plays alot will see these uniques/sets drop all the time. As to there relative value there has been attempts at ranking them but as always something is only worth what someone will pay for it. I can give my opinion if you would like.

1. i would never trade an soj for any other unique doesnt matter how many someone offered (11 gulls lol NO!)
2. Ward ofc depends on its % resist all 45% are useful but if you plan on using you just trade up each time you find something better.
3. Apart from gull,silks,gSkin,BBats(only specialist need), Hots, Raven Claw the rest drop fairly often in normal play so can be traded as your need arises. High % on ward, tarn, chancies, nagel make them more valuable than standard stuff.

the general idea with "worse" uniques is the fact that people want you to overpay for them, because they waste time while muling them
they could use the time to MF

if you want to sell - all your items are "crap"
but when you need an angelic armor the idiots will demand gulls..

depends on ward level
twitch is worth few swordbacks at least

gull = silks = gskin yes
hotspurs = technically they are worth gull=silk=goldskin, but they ar ebetter and most people wont trade them
in terms of popularity (when you sell?) spurrs>gull>gs>silk
so it is better to have spurrs/gulls than silks

From my experience on east ladder:

soj = 10 gulls + ?
Yes, in theory I guess that might give an idea of what soj is worth. However, you would be very lucky finding someone who actually wants to give a soj for any amount of gulls.

As for the rest of the classic uniques, Id personaly seperate them in 2 classes:

-gull value:
gull(obviously), hotspurs, blinkbats, silks, gskin, gnasher(? good luck finding someone who actually needs it, worthless for that reason imo)
Depending on who you are trading to, spurs and bbats can go up to 2 gulls.
Same goes with perfect silks and perfect gskins.

-everything else:
should only be traded for gold,pskulls etc...
Perfect chance guards/tarn/(ward?) should be bumped to the gull class. Perfect tarns can sometimes go for 2.

PS: if you still need that ward, try mfing hell meph a lil bit; he drops them often.

ok, i am relieved with sback being worth less then i was told and about the same i thought at first, and eyeless having no value
i forgot to ask about sets, how much is death sash and gloves worth? the rest of the sets aside angelic amu+rings and iratha's has limited trade value i think

i have questions about the trades i made so far (good, bad, ok):

my wskull and sback for angel amu + 2 rings
my eyeless, sback, pmanald for gwrap +nagel29
my rattle, gblins, howltusk for chancies 35 (needed them, and the stuff was clogging my inv)

i am at a loss since i got all mf gear i wanted, but have no idea about how much are the rares worth, i mf normal for gulls, shards, bbats (found my 2nd from mef) twiches etc for the time being and lvl my sorc
i think ill mf for the gull class uniques, its cheaper and much faster then finding the rares on hell

at the moment i dont have the resists i need to play hell effectively, i did it with a friendly din tanking, but it kept the adrenaline going
i wonder if i should bother, or go straight for mage plate + prism deflecting
i already found one with 282 def for imbuing
i am thinking about using irathas on my sorc (25 dex bonus for shard) for the 65 res all, with fcr from rings, and mplate + rare shield, i found decent 10 fcr + 5 str, 30 cr 20 fr (+40 ar phys dmg -1 ring) already, if i could get my hands on more +str i will save more stat points for 2nd generation of the char, and could play in hell to get that rares i dont need much mf for for 3rd generation

Good trade imho hots are best cs boots. And if you ever farm andy you will have enough nagels to make a suit of armour out of them especially 29% or less

any time you sell stuff you dont need for stuff you do is good trade imho, they are all pretty much worthless.

You may find the discussion in this thread (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=378794) useful. It is an effort to have a Classic comparison of value for various common items. It doesn't try to address the question of top-end trades, but it does give I think a fair rough impression of the relative worth of the desirable unique and set items.
