View Full Version : Very best merc gear
My Sorceress gear is nearing completion with only 2perf nagels, anni, torch and mf charms left to find I am thinking about gearing my merc a bit. Currently he has shaftstop, Tal Rashas helm and some crappy polearm. He is act2 holy freeze merc.
So what is the very best equip for this guy? Obviously I am thinking infinity for weapon as I am lightning. For armor fortitude or chains of honor, for helm Andariels or Gaze. Any suggestions? I am open for other gear as well!

Infinity (Eth Great Poleaxe or Giant Thresher), Eth Adny's, Eth Fortitude (You don't need the huge resists on CoH), but the extra damage on fort will help your merc.
Now if you don't want your merc to kill as much, use a lesser polearm and he won't get in trouble from IM as much, but he won't be as much help for you either. Not worth it IMHO.
Not worth it to use a lesser polearm? He'll be mostly used to removing lightning immunes, but also tank.

Hmm, I just realized I recommended a gear set up with no faster hit recovery. I guess that's why I went eth Stone - it comes with 60% FHR. Stone will actually give you more def, but you'll loose out on the enhanced damage of Fort. If you don't want your merc to kill that much, then it's better all the way around. - I'm playing meterorb and I still need my merc to kill some things.
Another nice merc armour is etheral duress 40fhr 15%cb 33%ow.
The beauty of a lesser polearm is your sorc could also use it if you choose to go that down that road and your merc may survive the oks in chaos sanctuary.

EInfinity
EFort
EAndy's Visage
these are recommended.
for cheaper ways, try
Insight/Infinity
Shaftstop/Duress/Duriel's
Gaze/Andy/Shako/Tal Helm

if u like using high end exile polearms do considered eth shaftstop and gaze for the merc. 50% damage reduction can keep him alive from IM for awhile....instead of instant death.
