blizz vs orb for uber-tristram

Hi! I'm working with a bear druid, light fury zon, and a veng convic pally to tackle uber tristram. I'm not worrying too much about cold immune creatures, they should be able to handle any we run into. What's my best strategy? Blizz or Orb? and should I bother to max cold mastery?

I don't know much about Uber Trist, seeing as I play SP, but I do know that Cold Mastery is one of the coolest skills on the game - especially if your avenger friend's conviction breaks cold immunity.

Blizz has more synergies, and when fully synergised, does more damage than Orb. It is also a spell that you can fire, then switch to something like Ice Blast or Glacial Spike while the Blizzard is still going.

Sorry, but afaik, no sorc build has yet been successful at defeating the Ubers. There is a silly video floating around somewhere showing a sorc that did, but it was a mod game and the AI non-existent.

Ubers simply regenerate their health too fast for your spells to keep up with. You can bring their cold resistance down to -100% and it still would not be enough.

I just don't see anything without a renewable source of life (lifetap) being able to work in there. I've only done it a few time myself, and never with a sorc. I've taken my lvl 90 meteorb in there just trying to help clear out minions - but even that was ineffective.

Having said that - even with a good level of conviction you'll still need a max cold mastery. Even if he does break the immunity (he probably won't break all the immunes anyway), the conviction will still leave them with a high level of resist.

Frostburn brings up a point I totally forgot about. You just can't cast anything fast enough (especially FO/Blizzard) to do any good. At best bet, you'll be trying to keep the minions off the other people - at worst, you'll be one more player raising the HP of everything in there and causing ubers to spam more minions.
