View Full Version : The best army of 8
So, I'm a bit bored today. I'm trying to think of the ultimate band of 8 pvm necromancers. Would it be just a ton of fishymancers? Maybe a bonemancer thrown in or would they be too weak in an 8 player game?
I'm also thinking about mercinaries and what auras the group would want. I think an infinity, insight and pride would be obvious. Maybe an act 1 merc with a Faith bow? Obivously all 6 of the act 2 mercs should be distributed throughout the group. Anything else people would want? Are Holy Fire and Holy Shock useful in 8 player games?
I would think just having that many skellies, mages, revives, gollums and mercs all running around together would be enough to take down any challenge in the game. OK maybe uber tristram would be interesting still. I mean just keeping all those necros alive would be the only hard part. They'd surely overpower the three's minions, but they'd need a whole lot of Urdars to take down the three all at once.
Not that I'm actually suggesting anyone do this. Just curious about what we could come up with.
well i would do it just to see all the skeles, but there might be alot of lag... ive got a lvl 90 fishymancer with infinty/insight act2 merc offensive, just in cast though.

Lots of Summoners for the meathsields. A Venomancer for some good damage and a Bonemancer for support. Desired Auras are all with the exception of HF, since it can destroy corpses.
Just a bunch of clay gollems running around? Or do you think some fire and iron would be helpful?
Hopefully each person can have a different merc, such as act1 rogues with Faith, a Might Merc with Infinity, etc.

With so many minions the Golems would be a matter of personal choice. They won't get too much monster contact.

summoners the bulk of them (some cursing..other CEing)
boner for good dmg on tougher monsters....
i dunno...i think i might need to improve my connection to have 6 pure summoners on screen lol....they could probably break into two groups and easily handle everything...
I think it would be cool to see them all together taking on baal's minions. If the minions had real AI they'd probably turn and run.
And yeah I was thinking all of them could have different mercs. Like if people built these characters from the ground up to work the best with each other. It would be one powerful army IMO.

8 Golemmancers, with all the golem skills and Golem Mastery maxed.
2 Clay Golems, 2 Blood Golems, 2 Iron Golems and 2 Fire Golems. Watch all 8 of them run around and pummel monsters. Especially entertaining when all 8 gang-up on bosses like Andariel and start beating her into the ground.
Supplement with Amp Damage, Decrepify, Iron Maiden or Life Tap.

Bone Prisons everywhere, Poisonmancer prevents regeneration, entire screen always Amp'd, no corpses can hit the ground due to CE spam. Hell, maybe even some Werebears running around.
I participated in a dream Amazon team before. 4 Multizons and 4 Lightzons. That is probably the only team that could match 8 Necromancers, IMO.

20 clay golem
20 blood golem
20 iron golem
20 fire golem
20 golem mastery
either all use clays or all continously cast fire golem for explosion would be funny

Also all skelle mages would be cool with all the stuff flying around
20 to teeth and all the synergies so you make 400 teeth going at baal

I vote for one Hexmancer (ironically, I'm probably the only person on B-Net who has the actual NAME "Hexmancer"). Seriously. Summoners generally have high summoning skills, but the Amp takes time to cast, time that could be better spent eating dinner while your minions take on Baal's. With a good Hexmancer, you could make things run faster with a very high level Amp that hits the whole screen at once.
Curses that are better when cast by a Hexmancer:
Dim Vision (it sucks to spent 5 Minutes getting all those stupid Black Souls to sit still. Hit 'em once with a BIG DV)
Amp (as stated above)
Decrepify (...it lasts longer?)
...Just my thoughts.
P.S: It's going to take about 500 Hours to get all those summoners up to full Army. What are you going to do if you run into a mean group before then? Maybe...a...GOLEM-MANCER!!!! A really really good Golemancer can get a 70k Clay Golem...then BO it...ugh, SO cool.
It doesn't take me very long to get a full army up and running. Everybody just jump to a different wp and get their armies solo. The merc and golem should be able to kill a few monsters to get some skellies up and things just get easier from there. Then have everyone meet back up when their at full strength and go teach the three who's boss.

i get 10 skelle on act 5 in about 20 seconds
Don't forget a second act 1 merc with a harmony bow to speed things up.
