Hey, I'm ready to start hell with my FA zon (original post here: http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=483620), and I'm trying to figure out the best place to level. She's currently around 53. My original thought was flayer jungle: monsters are 1) small and 2) densely packed, which would compliment the pierce and explosion radius of FA well. Unfortunately, checking on battle.net's site, flayers are cold immune. Those jerks.

What about spider forest then? Do flayers show up there? At work currently, so i can't really check. Any other ideas for areas densely packed with little monsters that are not cold immune?

Before anyone replies with cows, let me say that i've been doing them, and while they're fine, their large size seems to minimize the effects of multiple explosions going off at once. This will, nonetheless, be my backup option.

To be clear, I'm also not a cs run fan. hence the looking for other areas.

Ok, thanks for any help you can give.

Yes the spider forest is ok there are a couple of cold immues there but mostly they are fetish which are lightning immune. I suppose ancient tunnels are good for cold skills as there are no cold immunes there, except the odd unique that spawns with cold immune (these are found in act 2 in the lost city area) only problem is that it is a small area.

At that level you could consider the sewers, cold immunes are there, but they are rare. If you do get one with a lot of those Sabre Cats, reroll.
I've leveled my Frostadin there from 53 up to his current 72. Naturally you have to be carefull and just lure them around the corner at first so you can pick them off one by one. But fortunately you have two entry points.
On the first level of the sewers there seems to be a far smaller chance of cold immunes. You might meet a cold immune mummy unique, or, even more rare, a cold immune Sand Raider, but that is about it.

Hell Andariel is what I do with Orber until level 70. Catacombs lv2 don't have immunes except uniques and lvl 3 only have vampire-like creatures. From barracks to the catacombs there are hardly any CI. Spider Forest is Ci free also, but have way less fetishes than Flayer Jungle.

Hey thanks for all the responses everyone. I just started hell and did trist, andy and sewers. The saber cats on lvl 3 of sewers are quick and scary, but there was a hammerdin with me who could take care of them. The skeletons and fallens loooove to clump though, which makes FA beautiful in these areas, and even with my 6% fire res, the archers weren't hitting me too hard.

After i grabbed the book of skill, i found that I had 3 unused skill points - I didn't even notice gaining two levels in the sewers! I figure I'll stay there and in the cats for a little while, maybe get some help with act 2 if it comes my way soon. Otherwise, i'll gain a few levels and then decide which direction to take this character.

I just maxed frozen arrow and cold arrow - doing 1100 damage average according to the character screen. I also have been using a wizendraw (perfect 35%!), so you can add (at best) another 400ish damage to that. Also, if what i've read about resistances is true, then subtracting resistance has the effect of raising cold duration. Huge damage increase + duration means this bow makes me quite happy.

So far, i'm still very excited about this build. It's very safe and thus far, it's been quite effective. I still need to decide what to do about other skills - I can either sink points into making my valk a tank (hopefully with some sort of damage) or doing some fire damage, but not both. I might even consider doing LF for the lesser necessary skill points investment. Any advice on this?
