I have a question about my necromancer.

Ok im a new player to D2 i have played D1 for 3 years and finally got around to picking up D2 + LOD and im playing as a necromancer i mostly have my skills set up and im gonna be a summoner and use Corpse Explosion and Bone Spear to defend myself i was wondering if using bone wall in layers or casting a few bone prisons would be better.

Check the guides there is alot of good information there. My experience with necros is that some hybrids can work ok but with a summoner ce should be plenty to defend yourself. The tanks for you are the merc (act2 might/w insight for mana) clay (slows monster, high life with 1 point) or other golem and your skelies. The lower levels may lead you to believe that your skelies dont amount to much but as you level they will be your best friend. I also put 1 point in revives they are not good followers (they get lost if you are traveling quickly) but when you are getting close to a boss or at world stone keep they give the best bang for the buck. Plus skill items are a good thing like with any other build.

Thanks for responding, I in an effort to answer my question on my own have already read every word in the necromancer information area at diabloii.net and have read the overlord guide (didnt sound like a good idea for a first charector) and the zookeeper. So i do understand the spells pretty well and btw im going to use Iron Golems to protect from melee PKers. I have decided that i am going to use bone wall or bone prison just not sure whitch one.

BTW: Instead of opening a new thread i thought id ask here: Is there a fairly active Necromancer Clan on US West server that would let me in at CLVL10?

Your Bone Spear will do HORRID damage. Just stick with Corpse Explosion.

Iron Golem will offer you almost no protection from melee PKers. My advice to you would be to just exit the game.

With summons, you should already have all the tanks in the world. Placing bone walls/ prisons will only slow your killing speed down, because they'll block your skeles' walking paths.

I haven't heard of any clans that were strictly for necros.

With pure summons, you should be able to defeat hell mode with little troubles.
