I'm wearing my humonculous but haven't put points in yet. I'm the one who said before he was going to make a venomancer. I figured max block is what I should be looking for (since I won't have a summon army to take hits for me) for pvp. How much dex is max block?

Is getting max block a smart decision for pvp since I won't be getting any minions? So about 220 would get me max block at level 85?

probably a smart idea to get max block if you're not going to have any minions. i just checked my psn/summon hybrid and he has 200 dex on the dot with 75% chance to block, his defense is lwo like 1800something though

So 200 Dex for max block? I heard that levels make a difference too. What level is your nec?

80 --you're probably right about levels making a difference. i'm really new to the necromancer scene myself and i've been trying to find someone who will help me out with info too

I used to be very knowledgeable but I haven't played for well over a year. I just came back. :)

225 is max block at level 99. I'd just aim for over 200 and keep upping it to max block as you go along, or use a calculator.

Okay. Thank you. So you think I should get max block for pvp? Or is vita more useful for a venomancer?

blocking vs melee/ranged characters is essentially like a 75% damage reduction. many people don't leave town without it. dont put any more dex than you need, though. you could socket an Eld in your homunculus, and shave off ~15 dex at high levels, but there are probably better choices

Okay, thank you. I was thinking of high block because unlike other necromancer builds, (summoners with their minion meat shields and Bonemancers with their range) I'm going to have to get close to my opponents to dish out some damage. This puts me rather close to melee fighters which is what got me thinking about max block.

Just remember that your not going to be putting 200+ points into your base dexeterity...because with equipment/anni/torch it will be covering a good part of it for you...so your really going to be looking at around 140 or so base point for your dexterity give or take some points.

Max Block is definitely needed for PvP. Also, yeah, be sure to factor in +dex items that you'll be using.

Yeah, I got max block and did take the items into consideration. The rest of my points found their way into vitality.
What about going half and half? Because max block is useless against casters. So my next biuld im a try 50% block + some DR and still try 2 pump vit. Is this a good idea or bad?

To know, how much dex you will need for maxblock, use this formula:
Dex = ( Charlvl x 150 / Shieldblock ) + 15 (which means for Homunculus)
Dex = ( Charlvl x 150 / 72 ) + 15 (at level 85 this means)
Dex = ( 85 x 150 / 72 ) + 15 = 192.083
50% chance to block is a bad idea, because you have invested 2/3 of the points needed for max block in dex and get only half the protection. Either max block or no block, others donīt work good.
Ok so the best over all PvP build would max Vit and have 75% resists and 50% DR then. Im i right about that? Oh ya and 125 fcr and 86 fhr. Well that is easy todo! lol Is this possible for any build and still be a killer?

In PVP max block is no nice to have, it is a must. You will meet players that do more than 1k physical damage ( aftere PVP penalty ) at lvl 49 and shrugging 75% of these attacks off is just nessecary.
