eth botd zerker vs grief zerker

I fallowed kingdryland's smiter guide and now have a lvl 86 pally. king sugests grief, I have one, but it does not do much dmg, smide does very little dmg. I was hoping someone could explain this too me and tell me were I'm going wrong.

here is my set up.

Helm:Blackhorns face (265/206%)
Weapon1: eth botd zerker (530/500%)
Weapon2: Grief (zerker) 383 dmg
Armor: CoH
Shild: Exile
Ammy: Highlords wrath
Ring1: high raven frost
Ring2: carrong wind
Gloves: craculs grasp
Boots: gorerider
Belt: tGodz

Invitory:
Anni charm
pTorch
100-130 psn dmg over 5-8 sec sc (x8)
other resists/life/ar sc's


BOTD:
zeal: 7.8k
smite: 1.9k

Grief:
zeal: 2.6k
smite: 1.9k

I dont see why grief is so great, and y smite dmg is so little.

The character screen doesn't display the damage correctly and as I understand it ed% weapon damage doesn't add to smite damage. (grief + damage is added to the base shield damage)

even +340dmg Grief is better than Ebotd BA 415% so lol, how come grief does less dmg ?

Also Grief is THE only smiter weapon.

Everyone freaks out when they first equip Grief, because it doesn't look right in the character screen. Don't worry; go forth into battle and you will behold the goodness that is Grief. You are actually doing more Zeal damage than with your ebotdz and WAY more Smite damage (more than 3 times what is displayed).

Also, those poison charms dont work with smite I believe, so their a waste of space.

If I may also suggest substituting Blackhorns face for Guillaume's face. The Guill's and Gores together will give you a total of 50% CB that will really help take large life chunks those first few hits. Add a nice 15% IAS/ED jewel in the Guill's to make it even better.

Guillaume's Face should cost you no more than a Lem (usually < 10 pgems). Go to the trade forums I'm sure there are a few up for sale.

Exactly. I recently rolled a perfect ebotdz and was jazzed as I was planning on making it my primary weapon regardless of the role. I got a mid lv grief (unexpectedly) the same day from some guy desperate for a Lo rune. I was over 10,000 damage with the botd and was owning all monsters. Put on the Grief to check it out and 5 minutes later decided to sell the botd.

Last wish PB isnt that bad either for boss killing/ubers

Not bad, however, grief is still better, considering if you're wearing Guillaume's, and gore riders already.

Last Wish is more for style points. Since its nice stats will let you free up massive amounts of space for equipment freedom.

Grief > EBOTD.

In fact, I will never touch an EBOTD again. I was quite surprised that mine poofed, and it wasn't even perfect.
