View Full Version : Why Reaper's Toll?
Why do people prefer Reaper's Toll for their mercs? Someone around here wrote that it breaks PIs but I don't understand how. It looks to me like bonehew would be preferable because of the damage and 2os. Could someone plz enlighten me?
My guess is because of the 33% ctc lvl 1 decrepify. Decrepify slows and amplifies physical damage. It's possible that it can even break some PIs, like Amp. Damage can do. But if not, it would certainly increase your damage.

You guess correctly. Hi life leach, Deadly Strike and cold damage are nice bonuses too.
Tomb Reaver can be fun too for it's 10% chance to reanimate it's kills, among other mods.

I only use Reaper's Toll for mercs if I don't use other curses or if other weapons help more.
Examples:
My bowazon wears Atma's Scarab (chance to cast amp)
My zealot wears Dracul's (chance to cast lifetap)
My necro casts his own curses
My hammerdin always needs mana, so the merc wears Insight
My lightning sorc deals insane damage when her merc wears Infinity
My meteorb does MF and so does her merc (Tomb Reaver)
Hmm, that leaves only my IK barb, it seems...
cause there's the chance to cast decrepify mod on reaper...
decrepify = break PI

To be more precise, Decrepify can break any PI monsters with less than 110% physical resistance. So Reaper's Toll can break most but not all PI.
