Best Melee Barb Weapon

While checking through the RuneWords: Weapon i found some really nice stats, but, which is the ultimate?

I've recently started playing D2X after 4 years of abscense, and now i draws nearer for my ultimate PVP melee barb. I dont got much items etc, and i know that a good weapon is crucial for a barb to be effective. Ofc, the weapon isnt everything, but it's a helluva good start atleast :P

So, I do wonder what the best melee PVP barb weapon is these days (in my time it used to be the runeword Fury, I had one in an Berserker Axe). Please state the weapon itself and not along other EQ. But ofc can one item be better than another with a perticular IAS or something from other EQ... anyway, i tihnk u get my intentions..

For a PvP barb, you can't go wrong with Grief berserker axe.

I was thinking more like... Famine or sumthing...

and maybe i forget to mention, I'd most likely go for a One-hand weapon + shield....

Grief would still be the top weapon. Famine is more of a PvM weapon.

Hm... ok... but then... whats a roughly estimation of the value of the Greif runeword in a Berserker Axe ( or the runes themselves...LO + Mal)?

I dont have much items as i said... but, eventually i'll find something good, and then i need to know how many Ist's or w/E i should collect before going into trade mode :P

u'll be able to get low grief for 2,5-3 ists. if u make it urself, it will cost u about 4-4,5 ists (ist for 5 soc ba, 2,5-3 ists Lo, Mal).

Hum ok... then here's another Quesiton about grief... I've looked around on the forums here, and seen some ppl wanna do grief in a zweihander... and since the dmg isnt %ED based, and only dmg +, the real base dmg on the weapon doesnt matter that much yes?

so, whats the pro's and con's on berserker grief vs zweihander grief...?

That's why Grief phase blades are so powerful, despite the fact that the phase blade has such a relatively low base damage.
so, whats the pro's and con's on berserker grief vs zweihander grief...?Berserker axe: needs at least 34 IAS on the roll in order to reach last WW breakpoint. Grief Zweihander will reach the last WW breakpoint no matter what IAS it rolls. However, Grief berserker axe is far more popular due to the fact that you can duel wield it with another axe (ie. Beast berserker axe). Equipping a Beast along with a Zweihander Grief means that you must invest in two separate weapon masteries; with Grief berserker, you'll only have to invest in one weapon mastery.

and, now oyu're talking about phase blade, first telling it's so powerfull, then that it has too low base dmg... i want to know, which is the BEST for ym weapon + shield WW barb? =)

Since the +dmg is added directly to the base damage instead of being % based, Grief phase blades are powerful *despite* having a relatively low base damage damage. Read my post again.

Ok well ww speed is calcluated by weapon speed. Like Evrae said, between zweihander, zerker and phase blade, zerker is slowest. Between zwei and phase, zwei has greater range, so zwei might be best choice for you.

But again, if you get a zweihander, no class other than barbarians will be able to weild it one-handed. Phase blades are popular for this reason, because smiter paladins can do a lot of damage with the +dmg mod on grief. But like I said, since this will always be for your barb, don't worry about it.

For a shield, the runewords spirit, sanctuary, dream, dragon and phoenix all have different advantages depending on your fighting style and wealth. If you don't want anything fancy, any elite unique shield is good, including stormshield or spirit ward (casts fade).
