does anyone have "mephisto maps"?
Ive read that there are 16versions of the map and they were published somewhere. I know that 40% of the time you go "bottom-center-right" when you start west and sometimes north
and that you go left when you start south (works 50% of the time for me)
also sometimes when you start west you can go north and the staircase is pretty close

same goes for andariel, there are certain things similar, hard to explain for me (maybe screenshots?)
when you start west and the door faces east you should go south, that's the most common for me
AND THEN IN LEVEL 3 ALWAYS GO for the opposite direction
it works for me 75% of the time

but Id like someone smarter to explain it more, or perhaps the maps are not randomized too

I made a similar post in the classic help thread, but noone reads it really

There are a couple patterns that make finding the staircase easier in durance. I think it used to be much easier, but Bliz increased the size of Durance to prevent easy mephing.

95% of the time, the stairs down, up, and the wp will all be on the outer edge of the map. 100% of the time, the room stairs down are a 90 degree clockwise rotation from the WP room. That is, if the exit of the wp room points N, the exit of the romo with stairs down points E. Ok, so they actually point like NE or SE, but whatever, you get the idea.

Also, if you teleport along the edge clockwise, you will reach the stairs down faster than the stairs up about 90% of the time.

% less than 100 are estimates by me. Also, while there are several types of rooms that point in each direction, it seems to me that there is only 1 type of room that will have the stairs down in each direction. For instance, the N/S rooms are long and straight, and the rooms that point E are more of the C type rooms. Hard to explain, but that can also help.

They did indeed increase the size of durance for nm and hell games in the 1.10 patch as durance used to be the size (or pretty close to) it is in normal in all three levels of difficulty.

It's a weird thing that I noticed, but it seems that the durance in Nightmare is larger than it is in hell. I usually noticed this on a Ladder restart when I am forced to do NM mephisto for items... then again it might just be a manifestation of my hatred for doing NM Mephisto runs and not getting a single good drop... :)

I believe that the main sight (diabloii.net) had the mephisto maps archived somewhere, after about an hour of looking I found them, but the link has either changed or they were never there in the first place. So now it is a link to another forum, that I don't think I should link specially since I saw no maps... I will keep looking though!

They were on the personal site of a guy named Dracoy. He had some amazing legit LoD setups! I haven't played LoD in over a year or strayed much from this forum, so his site may not exist the way it was back then. Post this question in the general discussion forum on this site.

With the help of the name given by Taft, I did some more digging, with a search on this forum resulting in finding out the original URL where they used to be hosted.
Then I proceded to check the way-back-machine to see if I could find the maps there. Alas, all the files where blocked by a robot.txt, so dead end there.
I then figured I would search for it using metacrawler, then just proceded to the url I had already found. This had a link to the guy's new site, which is basically his name dot com.
On there he has a diablo section, where you can find a Mephisto's maps section. I have yet to see the actual pictures, cause they are not loading for me right now, so I dunno if this is yet another dead end. If it is, it's the final dead end unless somebody has them mirrored.

After posting I checked and the host for the images no longer exists.
So I searched for the name of one of the pictures : Meph1.JPG
But came up empty-handed.
Perhaps mr. Holmes can take it from here and find the missing maps. :)

I guess once I get my computer back from the shop (the one that has d2) I can just physically tele all the maps and host them :) But I don't know how long that will be?

I used wayback maschine too (it was decoy's website), but I didnt know about metacraw;er
the easiest way would be to email him, if he provided his address on the new website

Here's some more interesting info about finding Mephisto and other areas of the game.

This does contain spoilers if you intend to make your own mephisto-finding-methods : :)
http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=489332

So, give him some feedback for his excelent explanation. I have been using his method for several weeks now and find them working really well.
maphack ? We don't need no stinkin maphack! Armed with knowledge you can face off against the horrors which are the perpetual searches in the Durance and Maggot Lair. With honorable mention of the Catacombs and the Claw Viper Temple.
