View Full Version : Strength / Equip bug?

So I'm building my first uber-Zealot, and I've slowly been upgrading equipment.
At around level 50 I found some IK Gloves/Belt that I wanted to wear, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to burn so many pts in STR.

So I found a +12 STR ammy which gave me enough STR to equip the gloves, allowing me to equip the belt, allowing me to equip Guardian Angel, etc... (you get the picture).

3 Questions:

1. I remember reading somewhere that there's a bug that wont let other players see your gear in cases like this?
Personally, I could care less what YOU see... I just want to make sure I'm getting credit for all the gear and that I'm not missing something...

2. If I die will I be able to re-quip by picking up my body? Or will I need the ammy again to start the domino effect... (the last thing I would want is a full stash and my beloved gear on the ground, and I can't pick it up)

3. Now I am considering Upping my HoZ but I am worried that once I swap out the IK gloves and belt for Dracs/T-gods problems 1 & 2 could compund greatly.

Any help, comments appreciated....

1) If you can see it equipped, then you get the benefits of it.

2) If there is gear that can't be equipped without the amulet, then you will need the amulet equipped to pick up the gear. Your gear will never fall to the ground, at worst it will be left on your corpse. If you die again before you finish looting your corpse, then only the corpse with the highest gold sell value worth of gear will be saved.

3) 1 is never a problem, but 2 could be more of an issue. So long as you never try to loot your corpse when there are enemies around, you should be fine. Just give up on the exp and leave and rejoin.

If you are equipping the ammy, then your gear, then switching to a different ammy, you will have a problem picking up your stuff if you die. If you will be wearing the ammy, you won't have a problem. It sounds like you are trying to save your strength points, targeting your "end-game" gear. In my experience, the easiest way to do this is using charms and rings.

I have 4 +5strength large charms that I shuffle from character to character while I'm leveling them. It really helps to avoid overspending and you won't miss the life/resists/AR from those 8 spaces that much. If you are lucky, you can get a few strength charms with these as second mods.

If you are going to be using Grief as your Uber weapon, upgrading the HoZ is strictly optional. You will get more damage, but less life if you upgrade the HoZ. It's up to you which you prefer. It works out to about a 4% variation either way. If you are not planning on using Grief, definitely upgrade the HoZ.

I've never had a problem killing the ubers with a plain HoZ and a weapon with no +damage. So long as you have alot of crushing blow and lifetap, you should be fine.

The way D2 gold values items is weird. Magic, Rare and runeword items tend to have very high gold values. Sets and Uniques tend to have very low gold values. It's easy to end up with some "expensive" garbage while your "cheap" uniques vanish into the air. I always attempt to recover my corpse nekkid (except in HC, or course :wink3: ).

I used Heaven's Light and an un-upped HoZ on my very first Uber run. On the next run I used the same gear with the HoZ upped and it went a fair bit faster. I didn't die either time, but I did notice that the last sliver of life disappeared faster the 2nd time around. Really good charms would have made the difference less noticable, but I can say that I appreciated the change. It helped noticeably with Lilith too.

I now have Grief and the same upped HoZ. If I had known that I would get a Grief I would not have upped the HoZ, but others would disagree.
