View Full Version : Creating A Windy Druid. Have Questions.
I am creating a Windy Druid and I am little bit confused about stat allocations as a whole. I mean I should only add as much strength as needed for the druid to equip his end-game gear. That is all fine and good, understandable for a caster. Where my main problems comes into play is in a few build guides it says that I should just use annihilus and a hellfire torch and then calculate my strength requirements afterwords. This causes me the problem because chances are I wont be finding an Annihilus anytime soon nor will I be working my way into fighting the ubers until probably a much higher level then 75.
Basically what would be the best average amount of strength requirments for an untwinked Windy Druid? and when would I be adding to much strength to the build?
I just want a basic number so I can calculate the dex and vitality needed after I get my basic strength requirments down.
Thanks in advance, this is my first serious attempt at a Druid, so I want to try and get it right the first time you know. Also any other helpful hints before I start the build would be much appreciated!

That will depend what is you plan using as end-game gear
If the heavier item is a stormshield, them calculate something like 15 less strength (an average torch) than what you need to wear it. 156-15= 141.
If you plan on getting your hands on a anni, substract about the same thing.
Same with enigma/any other gear that gives strength.
Only problem is if you plan on getting many items with strength bonuses you may end-up with a character with too low strength thus unable to wear any gear for leveling.
There are numerous items you can use while leveling that will give strength and/or dexterity...various charms, jewelry, ik stuff, lionheart runeword..they may help you wear something else.
Planning the end-game gear is very difficult unwinked - better to remake the character when you have the game, unless he is high level.
After doing a bit more research this what I am looking at as my end gear set up.
Weapon - Heart of the Oak and on switch a Call to Arms
Sheild - Stormsheild or I have the choice of the Runeword Spirit in a Monarch Shield. I am not sure what I want to go for quite yet. Suggestions?
Armor - Enigma, now that I look at the Enigma, it can give me a maximum of +74 to strength. That changes a bit of my calculations.
Helm - Nightwing's Veil
Gloves - Magefists
Boots - Sandstorm Trek or WaterWalk.
Belt - Arachnid's Mesh
Two SOJ's and Mara's Kaleidscope. This is all of course ideally what I am looking at, expensive but it is doable. I have not made the character yet, I figured I would plan it out first before creating him. Which was a smart thing to do in this case.
here is my gear windy druid: enigma, shako um-ed,hoto,sojs,mara,spirit monarch, waterwalks, anni, torch, skillers life,magefists,arach,switch,cta664 spirit monarch.:d infinity merc, forti, crown of thieves...i am invincible
Apophis, what is your base dexterity at? without all of the bonuses.

Apophis probably didn't went for max block (low dexerity) since he is using spirit shield. You can go pure vita/no block too if you want, you will have better cast rate but your druid will probably end up beeing more fragile.
Just do a quick search on the forum, you will find a blocking calculator. That will enable you to know the amount of dexterity you need for max block. Should be like 220 or more at level 90.
Enigma gives 74 strength at level 99 - it's more realist thinking that you will get something like 65 strength bonus from it, unless you plan on leveling naked to a very high level.
Don't use nightwing - the added cold damage isn't worth it IMO and shako beats it by a mile for this build - jalal's is good too if you want some hot recovery.
Counting all the strength bonuses:
Mara's +5
Shako +2
Enigma +65
Torch + anni + ~30
Treks +15
Total: ~117
156 strength for stormshield minus 117= you will need about 39 base strength..
This number can be lower if you use rare rings with + strength, jalal's, or torch/anni with higher stats.
You will need to use a low strength enigma, like mage plate or breast plate.
Hope this helps.
Hah, I guess I am messed up on the calculations there for Engima, even though I play Diablo frequently, I am still somewhat new to a lot of concepts, but I am learning.
Anyways my base strength is 67 as of now, because I wanted to make sure I had enough for everything without including the two charms, is this amount to high? Should I start over before I get to a higher level?
If that is the case for the helmets I will probably use an uprgraded Shako or Jalal, whatever I come across first I suppose. (or trade for)
Also I planned on using a mage plate for putting my Enigma in, I knew the strength needed to be low.
Thanks, this has helped a lot.
