I know all about the rabies bug but I have a question about it.
Let's say I'm dueling someone with summons out like a windy druid. If I infect a summon and flash my rabies gear before it spreads over to him, will it still count as him getting the full effect when he does get infected?
Or do I have to wait until he gets fully effected and then flash my gear?
Rabies damage is set at the time you attack. As a result, if you attack with a slvl 40 Rabies, and then switch your weapons (so that you only have a slvl 20 Rabies), anyone that gets infected as the Rabies spread will be hit with the full slvl 40 Rabies. Likewise, if you attack with a slvl 20 Rabies, and then switch your weapons (so you have a slvl 40 Rabies), anyone who gets infected as it spreads will get hit with a slvl 20 Rabies.
The only good weapon-switching will do you with Rabies is if you have -% enemy poison resistance gear. Enemy poison resistance is determined at the time they are infected, so if you attack with a slvl 40 Rabies and -0% enemy poison resistance, and then switch to a slvl 20 Rabies with -100% enemy poison resistance, any enemy who gets infected after that will be infected with slvl 40 Rabies at -100% enemy poison resistance.

Pretty much what he said, but bear in mind that the timer duration of rabies is NOT renewed each time it spreads.
So if you have a 40 second rabies, and infect his oak sage, then 20 seconds later his oak sage infects him, he will only suffer the remaining 20 seconds of rabies.
But the -% psn mod is ALWAYS based off of your current equipment, regardless of who its hitting. Each frame the damage is calculated anew, so you could switch to your deaths hand after the hit, and deal much more damage.
The same bug applies to several different attacks, including all physical ranged (like a bowazon using lacerator on switch).
Rabies just has some odd quirks to it.

Are you sure about that? I'd never heard that before.

The -%psn mod if calced each frame based on your opponents current resistance including the -%
The skill level/base damage of the attack, however, stays the same.

I know. I understood that the first time. I was asking if you were sure of that, and repeating it isn't the answer I was looking for.:wink3:
Where did you hear that from? Do they have any relevant test results?

Hero Editor.
Go try it.

Go try it.
I have a hero editor, but I would rather not make the effort, which is why I was asking you where you heard this and if they had test results to back it up.
