View Full Version : Act 2 Merc's IAS Breakpoints with Fanaticism

I've been using RTB's Tables (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=344501&page=3) to work out my Act 2 mercs' IAS breakpoints, as it has come to my attention that the German weapon speed calculator is inaccurate for Act 2 mercs.
I have a slight problem for my Fanazealot's merc though. RTB's tables are for merc IAS under 'normal conditions'. But my fanazealot uses a slvl 24 Fanaticism aura, and this clearly helps his merc out. Unfortunately, I can't find any links to tables showing merc IAS speeds under the influence of fanaticism.
If there is such a table, could someone please link me to it. If there isn't, is there a (relatively simple) formula for me to work out the merc's IAS speed with fanaticism?
Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure this is accurate:
IAS = (120 * EIAS) / (120 - EIAS)
Where fanatacism counts as EIAS. Level 24 Fanatacism gives 36% EIAS:
IAS = (120 * 36) / (120 -36)
IAS = 51
Enjoy!

Ah! Thank you my chelonian friend. I actually use the mirror formula of that to calculate my MA assassin's EIAS. BoS is a straight addition to the EIAS. But I did not know that Fanaticism also counts as EIAS.
So since my slvl 24 Fanaticism adds 51% IAS to my merc, I just need to add that to his other IAS gear, and look at RTB's tables for the nearest breakpoint.
Cheers!

It's not that easy.
Use the EIAS tables and this formula instead:
EIAS = skillbonus - wsm + 120*ias/(120+ias)
For example, a WSM 20 pole with 30% from fana will work at the speed of a WSM -10 pole.

Well yes, that formula is to work out the EIAS, and the WSM of the weapon has to be 'reversed', that is to say, - (wsm); as in your formula.
I was working it the other way around by converting my slvl 24 fanaticism's 36% EIAS into IAS, which is 51, by thegiantturtle's calculations. Then, I just added the 51 IAS to the rest of my merc's IAS on his gear, and compared that total with RTB's IAS tables (using the IAS table of WSM 10 in my case, as my merc is using a cryptic axe).
Edit: Unless if you're telling me that I can't convert fana's 36 EIAS back into IAS and add it to the rest of the IAS, and then look at the corresponding WSM IAS table?

That is what I'm saying, yes.
For example, consider a lvl x fanatism that gives 20% SIAS.
If reversing it that way worked, that would be 24% IAS.
However, as stated before, this increase would effectivly make
a WSM 20 pole into a WSM 0 one, and comparing those tables,
you see that 20 needs 99% ias for 11 frames and 0 needs 48%.
In this case, 20% SIAS apparently equals 51% less IAS required.
For 10 frames, the difference is even bigger, 147 vs 75.
[edit]
A slightly more useful formula:
IAS = 120 * (EIAS - SIAS + WSM) / (120 - EIAS + SIAS - WSM)
where EIAS can be found in RTB's tables.
(E-S+W) must be less than 120.

Thanks Delreich, for clearing that up and explaining it for me. I used your formula [IAS = 120 * (EIAS - SIAS + WSM) / (120 - EIAS + SIAS - WSM)] to work out my merc's IAS, and it tallies with the total amount of IAS on his gear.
I also used it to work out my MA 'sin's IAS. My previous calculations showed she had exactly 91 EIAS, which reaches the fastest breakpoint for dual claw attacks. With a BoS of 46 and a combined WSM of -15, her IAS works out to be 40%, which happens to exactly tally with 40% IAS on her Nat's (primary) claw.
Much appreciated.
