I've got a MF Bliz Sorc who's got the max MF gear going:

Tanc Armor
Tanc Ammy
Mildebras Shield
2 x Perf Nagels
3 TP Death Mask
25 MF Boots
Goldwrap
Chanceguards

I'm sitting at 320 MF, but I desperately need a gull. So I read all about how to MF for gulls, and have tried about 100-150 mf games looking for gull. Now I'm getting a fair amount of Rare Daggers (20+), but it's like I don't have enough MF get get it to pop up to a Unique.

So, I'm trying to figure out if I should I try to MF a gull or try to MF hell to find something to trade for a gull? (It just seems like it takes one to find one)

Gulls are a pain to find in hell. If ever I needed one it was just easier to over pay with some rares that I just wont need.

Actually, nagels aren't the max. you can find Fortuitous rings of chance which go up to 40MF

Perhaps you need less MF to find a gull, dig around normal tristram.

Normal Coldcrow (cold plain - cave level 1) has the best chance of dropping gull followed closely by normal cow king.
IMO you shouldnt waste your time hunting for gulls though; as you said, its probably a better idea to mf hell and trade the rares you find for gulls. I managed to trade for 10 gulls in the past 2 months doing that, finding 3 sojs and nice rares in the process.

Yeah, I'm aware of the holes in my MF - I've only got 35% chancies, I could do better there and, yeah, the rings could go higher. Boots... I'm not sure if I can go higher there (at least with 1.11 gear)

I've been hunting coldcrow and treehand norm in rapid fire fashion. But that is an interesting idea... less MF to get a unique dagger? :shocked: I always thought that it would decide: unique/rare/magic/normal I was thinking if I rolled high enough, I'd be getting unique daggers instead of rare ones.

Is my logic flawed?

I dont see how lowering your mf could increase your chance of getting uniques.

Normal game, Gull is TC3, it's low on the totem pole, kill Rakinishu in the stony field. Could take a while. Cold crow is good for Hotspurs, iirc.

The only times I have found gulls was with low MF, I've never found one with high MF. This leads me to believe that it's better to have lower MF rather then high. I vaguely recall from another thread that 250% or so MF is a better number for these(gull) kind of Uniques. Though I might have gotten things mixed up again, so no need to take my word for it. :)

only gull I found, was urking up (item find) in a hell cs run on de seis just before a din redeemed him. dagger flew, and everyone bolted (guessing they didn't notice the color, and assumed it was a lame/rare dagger)

my popper baba was using a tri topazed hat, one p nagel, 25 mf/resisty boots, and 24 mf dual leach dual resist gloves, maxed item find (a waste that I currently regret) as well as two bo sticks, and a +2 23 mf ammy. he's lvl 88 if it matters.

Wow, thanks for the offer! However, I'm WSCL. I'm getting good junk now, I just need to keep at it so I get good, tradeable stuff. This is my first high-level char since my account was blown away, so I'm just trying to kick MF into full speed to outfit any other char I want to make (I'd like to try some necro build next).

BTW, is it just me or is there an extreme amount of leecher dudes that play this game? It's just funny. I'm MFing the game alone and I see a join message at the top of the screen. Soon afterward, the requests start coming in: "Can you give me frees?", "Can you rush me?", "Can I have your account password?", etc. I guess I should expect this when I start a gull-finding MF1 game in norm with a lvl 83 sorc. Anyone coming into a game like that is going to want something.

Call your games "Nothing Is Free01", "Free Death 01" or "You Ask I Ignore".
That might resolve that.

Perhaps even "AcceptingPaypal".
