View Full Version : Friend gave me an idea of a healer paladin. I thought up a quick build, help.
Well this is the first build if actually planned out ahead of time, im working on it right now. Just the pre-reqs for everything and ive got the items i think im going to need and the stats and skills planned i thought i could use some help on it, and see if it would do any good. First off, it's a Mage healer paladin. It uses holy bolt, fist of heavens and blessed hammers.
Stat points:
100 strength
55 dexterity
100 energy (don't know about this)
rest vitality
Skill points:
1 sacrafice
1 zeal
1 vengeance
1 conversion
1 smite
1 charge
1 cleansing
1 defiance
1 might
1 holy fire
1 prayer
5 vigor
5 holy freeze
10 blessed aim
10-20 meditation (might take 10 and put 10 into prayer)
15 fist of heavens
15 blessed hammer
20 holy bolt
Gear:
Helm: Tarn helm
Armor : Silks of the Victor
Ammy : Eye of Etlich (or +2 pally?)
Shield : Steelclash
Weapon : Spectral Shard
Gloves : Frostburns
Belt : Bladebuckle
Boots : Tearhaunches
Rings : Manald Heal x2
It was just something that i thought i'd try out before new ladder and decide if it was anything that i'd like to keep around, or have fixed.
I don't know if the low synergies are even worth putting in and if i should just max out Blessed hammer and Fist of Heavens.

Actually, silks are far better for a healer. if you have 1 point in salvation it's enough with all the +skills you will have.
I prefer magefists, since you don't really need the extra mana frosties provides.
As for skills, pure healer would need :
20 Prayer.
20 Holy Bolt
5-10 Meditation (get it to 5, then put points in here after you've done the rest, you don't need that many points in here, though it's nice to get it to 15 with skills added. If you get +2 sword/+2 shield, you'll get 15 easier, so plan for getting that and don't put too many points in here at the start.)
And you will probably want to do these for max damage to undead :
20 blessed hammer
20 foh
With the +4 skills you mentioned you will have 85 res from salvation, if you descide to turn that on.
Your holy bolt will do the following :
Mana cost: 3.4
Magic damage: 5334 - 6006 (ø5670)
Healing: 225 - 470 (ø348)
[Synergy] Blessed Hammer: +1000% Magic damage (50% / Lvl)
[Synergy] Fist of the Heavens: +1000% Magic damage (50% / Lvl)
[Synergy] Prayer: +300% Life healed (15% / Lvl)
Where the magic damage you do is offcourse to undead, there are plenty of those in CS.
Here's another thread about healer paladins. They are fun to play imho.

I have 1 point in all cept the res specific aura's. My healer is level 88 at the moment and works very good, undead have no chance. I suggest getting a point in conversion so you can convert monsters you cannot kill.
Having all those aura's you can provide what people prefer, though your strength will ly in meditation, and keeping people alive, so be sure to watch your party members health, once they are on to how you work (You will have to tell people every now and then not to stand between you and the one you are healing) they will simply come to you when they need healing. Most of the initiative is yours though. And make sure they understand they should not hide behind you, in fact, as long as you have them namelocked and they are not moving around, they almost cannot die and will have enough mana to do anything. Suicidal WW barbs are quite special, and in rare cases you will be able to save them if they are WW-ing towards you or directly away from you while IM'd.
Most of the time I walk around with meditation, if I really need res, I just turn on salvation, since level 11 salvation is enough res even if you are not wearing any other res gear.
It might be nice to have boots with res though, but I can only suggest focussing on +skills for better healing.
Prayer is the only skill that has +skills working trough the synergies. So if you get a +2 pala +3 prayer +3 holy bolt scepter, you can consider yourself a very lucky healer. :)
Here's a thread about conversion which you may also wish to read :

With conversion, 1 point is enough, just get as much as possible +skills.

Don't forget to use Cleansing(pre-req) to cut curse duration on your parties. While active, Cleansing recieves the same amount of healing by Prayer as Meditation does. :)

Indeed, I don't use that one as often as I should. It's a personal choice really, keep people's mana full or reduce curse time. Most curses have little effect when you regenerate life at 44 per second like my pala does for the party.
