View Full Version : Life Leech Question!
Hey all,
Just need to clarify what life leech actually is.
Heres my question
Is life leech:
1. a percentage of damage given from you, to a monster?
2. a percentage of damage the monster receives from you?
Its quite a confusing question, but it will influence my build (or not) on which way it really works.
Anyone know?
Ill give an example of what i mean.
If my axe does 1000 damage to a monster, and I have 10% life leach do I get 100 life back?
But what if my axe does 1000 damage to a monster with 10% life leach, but the monster receives 2000 damage, do I get 200 life back, or is it still 100 life?
Which is it?

monsters dont have life leech per se, your life leech % = the % of your dmg dealt to monster, this number = the amount of life you get back
be careful, in nm your leech is cut in half, and to a quarter in hell , ie 40% lifeleech in hell=10% you are actually benefitting from
"monsters dont have life leech per se, your life leech % = the % of your dmg dealt to monster, this number = the amount of life you get back"
I know this
But what if you deal 1000 damage and monster receives 2000 damage?
When does the life leech get calculated? When the monster receives the damage, or after the damage has left your weapon?
There is a difference...
But what if you deal 1000 damage and monster receives 2000 damage?
Percentage of damage received by the monster.
Percentage of damage received by the monster.
So amp will double LL?
So amp will double LL?
That would be like saying that you would/could "double" or up to 4x life leech with crushing blow, critical strike, or deadly strike setups/gear, correct?
Personally, being no guru, I have no real clue other than to suggest that perhaps life leech is based upon the percentage of PHYSICAL damage dealt and not restricted to just/solely the weapon damage given (which of course, then one must consider tha average damage of the wep used dealing the damage).

So amp will double LL?
Yes, I think so.

Any multipliers to your dmg help your ll, or hurt it with decrep on you etc. So amp essentially doubles your lifeleach by doubling your damage. Crushing blow has nothing to do with leech, as it is calculated seperately from dealt damage.
Tempest, your right about your crushing blow statement.
But amp doesnt double yr damage, it just makes monsters receive double damage. Its a curse
Anyway thankyou all for your input

well yes and no
if u increase your damage, u will leech more life
BUT!!!
if the monster dies, u can only leech wat u deal in order to kill it
ive tested this
only leeched 2 hp of a zombie in norm with my ebotdgp
but if it were really ur damage in general, rather than damage to monster,
then i woula leeched 20% of 20k damage and regained like 4k hp
life tap curse does this, only it was 50% i think
so leech = damage monster takes - overkill damage times leech rate/difficulty penalty
