Given the same amount of mana regeneration (from Warmth or items), yes, the more mana you have, you more mana you get for each second. Formula here (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551#Mana%20Regeneration).

Something I can think of now: The Spirit Shroud, Rune Master, Kira's Guardian, Darksight Helm, Duriel's Shell, The Gladiator's Bane, Death's Guard, Trang-Oul's Girth, and Eternity runeword. There should be more, but I can't think of any atm.

You forgot the cheapest source of CBF in the game. A "Rhyme" runeword shield (Shael+Eth) is extremely inexpensive, carries CBF, resists, and blocking. Fantastic little runeword.

Without bonuses to mana regeneration (warmth, meditation aura etc.) and when ignoring rounding, you regenerate all your mana within 2 minutes IIRC. A 100% bonus halves the time, a 200% bonus reduces it to 1/3 etc.

However, it seems the formula in the strategy compendium has a slight error with respect to rounding and loss of precision when doing integer math. It would mean a L1 or L2 barbarian with no bonus to mana doesn't regenerate mana.

25 * [[256 * max_mana / (25 * 120)] * (%Mana Regeneration)/100 + 1] / 256

with [ ] = round down. I added the closing ")" after "%mana regeneration" BTW.

If you have less than 12 mana (like a L1 or L2 barb with no bonuses to mana), the underlined part of the formula would be zero, i.e. there would be no mana regeneration.

I just checked that with a L1 hellforge dummy who got the Den of Evil quest reward. I assigned the skill point to bash and depleted his mana pool. He does regenerate mana and it takes about 90-100 seconds.

I assume the game either uses a larger number than 256 or does the division by 25*120 at a later point, to avoid that kind of loss of precision.

The 256 factor is there because of extra precision already. Mana regeneration works much like life replenish (1/256th hp per frame per +1repl life), except that it's based on going from 0 to full in 120 seconds. Since what you say is true, there should be a cap at 1/256th mana point per frame, which will allow a character with 10 mana regenerate it fully in 102.4 seconds.

That would make sense. I will make further tests.

It's not that important anyway, as most characters don't have a skill point at L1 and the issue is solved at L3 anyway. Reaching L3 takes just a few minutes of playing and many people don't bother with assigning skill points at that point anyway. You don't really need bash or bother with find potion or any other L1 skill before you ecounter Corpsefire in the Den and I guess it's nearly impossible not to be L3 at that point
