i used to play d2 back in 1.1 but i gave up because of the impossibility to find high end runes. I rather not trade for high runes because all of them are duped. How do you people get your high runes to make rune words? cubing seems impossible to because it takes long and is only possible in ladder. Finding those runes is impossible too.

Finding those runes is impossible too.They trade for duped runes. Some few players are lucky enough to find 1 or 5, but it's not common.

Edit: you mean 1.10, not 1.1. Those are two very different things in version numbering systems.

ive played d2 for a while now and my highest rune ive found was a vex, and found it once

think trade is the only solution and hope that the rune won't poof :)

I don´t. The highest rune I have ever seen is a Gul, and the most "advanced" runeword I have made is 'Passion'.

I see the high runes/runewords just as a curiosity.

Hi runes involve some luck. Even sojs too. But all you need is a lucky break or good trading skills will net you some HRs soon enough.

In general, i try not to bank to much on HRs. Trade for HRs if you have the materials ready for making the runeword otherwise its just a waste if they poof.

I share the same feeling mug. IMO if u start playing in the early season, and thru trading u may possible to get the rune to need for several runeword.

Say a season lasts 12 months. U start building ur MF character in a few weeks. ( Assuming u play 2-3hrs daily on average.) And u start MF running for two months. U probably gets a few dozen items which are sellable. The most common rune in trade for uniques are Lum, Ko, Fal and Lem. Together with the runes u pickup from playing, one may have the runes for one decent runeword e.g. CoH. By the late season u may gather 4 to 5 pieces of good runewords.

To me, CoH, Infinity, Spirit, Botd, Death, Forti, Grief, and Exile are among the most popular items. And u can definitely sell some for other upgrade too. The whole thing needs planning ahead and follow the market trend. (Earlier the season, higher the price ! since nobody has anything.)

I don't support dupes, but it's really not as bad as it seems. They don't poof the second you get it, your characters won't get corrupted just from holding a duped highrune, et cetera.

You're right. It's not as bad as it seems- it's far, far worse.

I would venture, as a CONSERVATIVE estimate, that 99% of all runes above Vex are dupes. They may not all poof, but they're definitely dupes.

Anyway, mugana, I think it's really admirable that you refuse to trade for dupes, and I wish a lot more people would take that stand. If everyone refused to trade for dupes, then eventually dupers would stop duping altogether, which would pretty much end 90+% of the lag on the realms, as well as ALL hard-drops and the vast majority of FTJGs, too. If you DON'T dupe, though, then you have to resign yourself to the fact that you're probably never going to get a hold of any runes higher than Gul (thanks to a lucky hellforge drop), or maybe Vex (cubed from a pair of Guls).

If you're looking to game with a bunch of other likeminded individuals, I belong to the Amazon Basin, which is a group of "legit" gamers who support teamwork over dupes as the means of achieving real power. I'd highly recommend at least checking them out.:thumbsup:

Fear of poofing isn't the only reason some people don't trade for dupes.

I remember mfing around bunch of areas in hell with my fire sorc. Best rune i got was ko from countess. I even did cow runs with my lightning zon but the best thing i got from that was an occulus.

It would have been awesome if HRs dropped from bosses like meph. I hate the idea of having to clear bunch of areas just not to find any HRs.

Just play the game as you like, hunting for high runes is extremly time-consuming. If you play a lot, you'll eventually find something.
