In the official battle.net forums, Blizzard poster NickJS has posted the following:
Hello everybody,
I wanted to start a thread where players can consolidate all of their Diablo II suggestions and concerns.
We are aware of the issues on USEast/Europe (high pings and the Failed to Join error messages) so these can be excluded. Some examples of other things that you can post about include bug fixes, balance issues, exploits, etc.
Im positive there are many things you all have on your mind that you would like to see addressed so I encourage you to let us know here. Should we ever release a new patch this will assist us in making sure we address our players concerns so they can continue to enjoy playing Diablo II. Please keep the posts constructive and on topic or they will be deleted. Blizzard Online Support

I am especially happy about the line "...Should we ever release a new patch...", please add your suggestions.

And here are my sugggestions I have posted (page 7):
1)Change the D-Clone spawn, maybe sell Standards of heroes.
2)Fix all bugs in the ingame damage/skill/stats displays (e.g. necro skeleton damage)
3)Make builds per character better balanced (e.g "fire druids" are weak compared with "wind druids")
4)Change useless quest rewards (like magic ring in hell quests)
5)Give personalized items (act 5, quest 4)bonus for this character, negative effect if another one uses the item.
6)Fix FE bug in nightmare
7)Make TPPK impossible: Remove all spells/curse effects when returning to town
8)Make set items upgradeable in the horadric cube (like uniques)
9)Hammers from hammerdins should not ignore resistances/immunities of undead
10)Improve sets that are currently useless
11)Add a "bad mod" to uber rune-words, like -10% exp gain for Enigma
12)Make people play longer games and different acts (not just baalruns/Meph/Travincal) - make them play the WHOLE game, get all waypoints, ...:
a)Create a reward for when you kill ALL super-uniques from all acts
b)Make high experience gain possible in non Baalruns, so that you do not have to make "Baalruns-only" for getting to lv95+
c)Create a reward for clearing all monsters in an area (like Den of evil) or entire act
d)When you open ALL golden chests in one act, you get a special item from the last one(per act). If you have collected all special items of all acts -> special quest.
13)New quest:
Uber monster(s) with random stats (so that you do not know in advance which character type can beat him)
- Monster level = (sum of level of all players)/2
- can have corpse explosion
- can be physical immune
- can be magic immune
- can cast summons (urdars/stygian dolls/succubi)
- can cast any aura/curse
- can have "cannot be cursed"
14)New quest:
Beat a mirror image of your character
15)possible quest rewards:
unique large charm:
5% to all max resistances
10-20% faster run/walk
1-10% increased chance of blocking
5-10% faster hit recovery
16)Make 2nd expansion with a new act, bug fixes and demand 30$ for it, I will buy it.
Finally, Blizzard decides to listen to us. Some people have really good suggestions :) but many of them will simply not happen (I mean, 16 people in one game?)
I only hope Diablo 3 won't come as messed up as this game.

Have it so that one out of every 100 or so uber trist games there appears an uber wirt body that drops an uber wirt leg that can open an uber cow portal.
May just be me, But I link this with a new ladder season :)

14)New quest:
Beat a mirror image of your character
I love this one
Might be hard to accomplish though, or at least I can't think of a way unless "the mirror image" just used random skills available.
I think they should make the ubers a bit harder, maybe so that lifetap doesn't work on them.
Also, smite could be made blockable, or at least I think it can't be blocked atm.

What would be fruitful for Blizz is to give them the link to the threads on "next diabloII, or patches or new ideas on LOD" from this site.
Issued and shortly introduced by a Mod , writing in the name of xxx forumers may have probably a certain impact , don't u think ?

Make set items and uniques on par with runewords. Nothing in the entire game even comes close to beating high end rune words. Or make the hellforge drop at least ist or higher. If we are all guarnteed a high rune then there value would drop a great deal.
Bladewind
24-07-2006, 18:53
Then u just make duping a hell lot easier. This will push rune value down under especially on East.
At least there would be more legit runes... I'm tired of HR's poofing on me.
Bladewind
24-07-2006, 19:01
But the presence of more legit runes equates more uberpowered runewords easily available.
I mean if that hell level hellforge can drop an IST min and with an account has 8 hell going chars, isn't a player going to have enuff legit hrs to render him not using any of the "inferior" uniques.
Making ultra rare uniques drop more often is certainly better than boosting rune drops or giving a super hellforge.
Well it's hard to decide what to do with the rune drops.
My idea is simply to lower the runewords and then boost the rune drops. For example, on Enigma, remove the + to skills, lower the FRW, lower defense, etc. without making them completely useless. That way, people will want to search for other items, for example Uniques. And make the Uniques strong enough to match the runewords, so that the rich players can choose between many options, and hopefully we will get to see other character classes than the Paladin or the Sorceress.

agree with blast, maybe questionable on #11- it would depend on what mod it is imo- its not good to punish someone for being able to come up with good runewords , however, on the absolutely godly ones -ie-greif,infinity, last wish , and others that are very rune intensive, a negative mod wouldnt be as big of a deal, whereas enigma is more useful, easier to get, and if you nerf it too much it just becomes tele which imo, isnt enough for 2 hrs
but agreed, the rune situation sucks, duper should be shot in the face, make it twice, i duped the shotgun :)
Ill just give my feedback on some of the points made in post#2
1)Change the D-Clone spawn, maybe sell Standards of heroes.
Effectively reducing annis worth. But now its only possible for those super rich guys or dupers, so maybe change it somehow...
2)Fix all bugs in the ingame damage/skill/stats displays (e.g. necro skeleton damage)
Pretty much asked, but would be nice.
3)Make builds per character better balanced (e.g "fire druids" are weak compared with "wind druids")
Dont forget fury druids. Atleast if fury would be uninterruptable. No need for tele while shifted or something like that...
5)Give personalized items (act 5, quest 4)bonus for this character, negative effect if another one uses the item.
Even more reducing the use of the personalize quest.
6)Fix FE bug in nightmare
Yes.
7)Make TPPK impossible: Remove all spells/curse effects when returning to town
Yes.
8)Make set items upgradeable in the horadric cube (like uniques)[\QUOTE]
Yes, ladder only ofc.
[QUOTE]
9)Hammers from hammerdins should not ignore resistances/immunities of undead
Yes, and conc affection on hammers could be reduced to something else, as someone have said.
10)Improve sets that are currently useless
There really arent THAT many useless sets. But yea, the difference between aldurs and tal rasha is kinda huge...
11)Add a "bad mod" to uber rune-words, like -10% exp gain for Enigma
Good idea
12)Make people play longer games and different acts (not just baalruns/Meph/Travincal) - make them play the WHOLE game, get all waypoints, ...:
Maybe hard to change in a patch, but would be nice for some, but there is a certain "goodness" in being able to skip everything and just level up. Im talking mainly pvp rebuilds and such.
b)Make high experience gain possible in non Baalruns, so that you do not have to make "Baalruns-only" for getting to lv95+
c)Create a reward for clearing all monsters in an area (like Den of evil) or entire act
d)When you open ALL golden chests in one act, you get a special item from the last one(per act). If you have collected all special items of all acts -> special quest.
Would be kinda nice. Just seems to get too many "special" things for it to seem special... atleast to me.
13)New quest:
Uber monster(s) with random stats (so that you do not know in advance which character type can beat him)
- Monster level = (sum of level of all players)/2
- can have corpse explosion
- can be physical immune
- can be magic immune
- can cast summons (urdars/stygian dolls/succubi)
- can cast any aura/curse
- can have "cannot be cursed"
Would be intresting to say the least.
14)New quest:
Beat a mirror image of your character
See above
15)possible quest rewards:
unique large charm:
5% to all max resistances
10-20% faster run/walk
1-10% increased chance of blocking
5-10% faster hit recovery
I NEED that charm:starry:
16)Make 2nd expansion with a new act, bug fixes and demand 30$ for it, I will buy it.
Me too
I really could use that fury druids would be a little twinked. They are so much underdogs now. You need super gear to even be able to TRY to beat other chars. Also, a frw passive skill of some sort to fury druid or combined with werewolf skill would be nice. They are half wolfes for crying out loud. And when wolves run, they run fast... Clearly not in the wonderful world of diablo.
Now lets see if my quote tags got messed up...
Edit: Yep, FUBAR
Edit: Fixed to perfection

Here is my suggestions/comments/fixes.:
Unique Items and Rune words
- People love to magic find, which is one of the main reasons why this game stays alive. Add as much unique items as you can, and the game will be more fun, and interesting.
- We really need to bring back Staffs in this game. The Spirit Shield/HoTo or Occulus combination has taken over the Staffs. I already know that there is Mang Song’s Lesson, but the Shield/Sword combination beats it by far, because of the blocking. Perhaps you could make a staff with about 50% FCR, +5 to Sorc Skills, +65 to all Fire, Cold, and Lightning Resistances, or something that can rival the Shield/Sword combination.
- As mentioned before, we need a Staff that can rival the Shield/Sword combination. I also believe that there should be a powerful Staff Runeword, maybe something like “TirIstHelEldIstTir”, which would provide 50% Magic Find, and an additional (0.5 to MF% per level), +2 to mana after each kill, 50% FCR, -20 Item Requirements, and much more.
- I also believe there should be some Necromancer Shield & Barbarian Helmet Rune words.
- I don’t know if this is possible, but if a paladin (or any other character) can use a sorceress’s teleport (enigma), then other characters should have the chance to use Holy Shield. Perhaps, there should be a runeword or item that grants a level 1-10 Holy Shield, and +skills will affect the skill level of it.
- Make a Runeword that could be made in the Wirt’s Leg! Depending on what char makes the item, it will get different stats that are related to what that char’s type is. For example, if I made the runeword with a Sorceress, it would be the following:
Wirt’s Will (EldTirThul)
Wirt’s Leg (Sorceress Only)
• Required Level: 9
• Required Strength and Dexterity: None
• Ignore Rune Level Requirement (Eld, Tir, and Thul, all require you to be at least level 11))
• 5 to either Ice Bolt, Fire Bolt, Charged Bolt, Lightning, Ice Blast, FireBall, (those type of skills available at 12 or lower)
• 20% FCR (enough to reach the 11 frame FCR Breakpoint)
• +10 to all resistances (this would be on all forms of the leg)
• -75% life at Level 40 and Higher (this would help prevent people from making a build of off this, such as a Fire Ball Sorceress, who could benefit greatly from this weapon)
This weapon would be especially useful at lower levels, is cheap, and would be great for low level duelers. Of course, there would be different stats depending on which char you made.
- I think the runewords are alright at the moment, except that we need a bit more to make the game even more fun .
Game Errors/Temp Bans/Banning/Hacks/Dupes
- I am tired of getting the “Diablo 2 Exception” errors whenever I join games. Sometimes I get those errors 10-20 times a day (I play Diablo for about 3 hours a day). Fix this, please.
- Temp Bans are “teh” suck. I am sure you won’t fix this, but I do have 1 suggestion. Whenever you try to log on to your account when you have a temp ban, the timer Resets, “Omg, son of a b*tch.” Please remove this resetting of the timer, or at least make the time that we are temp banned visible, so that we can know when to come on again.
- I am glad you banned many of the maphackers/bot users out there, especially those cocky people who say “u noob, u should use Sting’s map hack cause it is un detectable” (however, I still see some Sting users around). Also, I am glad you banned those bots called D2Jsp bots, but I believe there is another bot out there called mm bot (no offense to any of my friends), please ban these people too. I must admit I do miss the Baal bots though; nowadays there is no way to level up quickly anymore.
- There is one thing I really believe you missed out when you did the mass bannings, and that is that you forgot to ban those damn chat bots. Every time I am in a game, I get at least 10 messages from various advertising chat bots every 5 minutes. It’s annoying.
- Duping should be fixed.
- I think you should not run that Full RustStorm, that will delete anything that has a duped rune in it, at least not until next Ladder season (if that occurs). Let the Items/Runewords with duped runes in them be allowed for the rest of this season, and in Non-Ladder. In the next Ladder, however, duped runes should not even exist and anything with duped runes should disappear. Only run Full RustStorm in the new Ladder next season, and in Non-Ladder, and not for the remainder of this ladder. I have tried hard to get every great runeword I have, and I am a 100% legit player, and I don’t want my current runewords/items poofing on me.
Characters
- Paladins: Of course, everyone knows that the Hammerdin with Enigma is the best character out there. Tone them down a bit, they are too strong. I believe the other type of Paladin builds are alright.
-Sorceress: I believe everything is alright with these girls, maybe you should fix the Energy Shield bug (if there still is one), and somehow announce to everyone that Meteor does not steal experience points.
- Druids: I don’t play with these people much, but I do believe their Shape shifting skills need to be upgraded.
-Barbarians: Pretty good at the moment IMO, except make use of Grim Ward.
-Assassins: Traps are annoying in PK, but they are affective for PvM, let them stay. You guys should upgrade the melee assassin skills though.
- Amazon: Don’t know much about these girls, except that you should make things such as the Fend skill more powerful.
-Necromancers: They are pretty well off, except their skeletons cause much lag, and I have seen necromancers use bone Wall/prison on people. You should make Bone Wall/Prison only useable on monsters for PvM, but useable on people in PvP.
- I don’t really pay attention to how superior/unsuperior builds are; I have only played since January. So, please don’t get on my case about this. This is just what I believe.
Additions to the game
- I am sure Blizzard and Battle.net do not like the idea of “muling” and “Xferring items” to other chars, but I am still going to try to convince you guys to do this idea anyway. You guys should make a Universal Bank Account for items, which can be accessed by any char that you have on your Diablo 2 account. The Bank account would be about 2 times as high, and about ½ times as long as the Character’s inventory space, and could be accessible by Clicking a button with a Bank sign in the Character’s Treasure Chest. This would help us a lot with transferring items to other chars. I doubt you guys would make it, because it seems (to me) like it would take a lot of work, and would be hard to do. Ah well.
- More Act 4 Quests.
- Make Cain a requirement when completing Act 1. He is in the other acts when I haven’t even done his quest. I mean, how the hell does he go from being free in Harrogath to being locked up in a cage in Tristram?
- You guys should make a Rare Quest (like the Diablo Clone), in which you fight a mirror image of yourself. Here’s how it would go.
• Make a new recipe that could have the chance to add more than 1 socket to a unique item. The recipe would be : 1 Stone Of Jordan + 1 of any perfect Gem (including skull) + Gul + 1 Standard Of Hero (this rune will now be useful) + Item to be socketed . So, if you use this recipe on your non-socketed Tal’s Armor, it will have a ¼ chance of getting 1, 2, 3, or 4 sockets. If you used it on your non-socketed Shako, it will have a 50% chance of getting 1 or 2 sockets. This would help remove SoJ dupes from non ladder, make Soj’s more valuable, and make good use of the Gul Rune.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y160/clanfh/SojSocketRecipe.png
• The Quest would only occur in Hell.
• At ANY Time in a Character’s life (in Hell mode), They have a 1/5000 chance (or a about the chance of a Zod Rune Dropping in a 1 player game) of automatically being transported to a secret area to fight their mirror image. For example, if I have a char named “The_One”, when this event occurs, there will be a message saying “The_One has walked the Earth” (much like how Diablo Clone walks the Earth), and then you will be automatically transported to your mirror image in some secret place.
• When you kill your mirror image, they have a 100% chance of dropping any item in your inventory, whether that be a Teleportal Tome, a Potion, or a 30% resist all Maras.
• If you cast a teleport to town, or die, your mirror Image will disappear, and you will never see it again on that current character.
• The computers AI would not be too smart, it would use every skill you have at random, and it’s life /mana would be the same as you, and have the same resists, and the same skill level. Besides, you have an extremely rare chance of meeting your own mirror image, and it would be stupid if she could kill you very easily. Not to mention, this would take a lot of work to determine which skills are the most powerful to use.
• The Quest of the Mirror Image of yourself would not be easy to happen for a character. You would have to be in Hell, and have great luck. Also, you would only have once chance to fight your own mirror image, so if you lost to her once, you will never meet her again.
• To Prevent the following situation:
If I actually meet my mirror image, I will drop all of the items I don’t want to drop from my mirror image, and leave on my 30 Maras. Since the Mirror Image is easy to kill, this will be no problem doing it naked (not literally), and I will be guaranteeed to get a 30 maras.
All items dropped on the ground, besides the one that your mirror image drops, will automatically disappear as soon as she (or he) dies. Actually, there will be an animation showing the all the items (besides the item your mirror image drops) burning down to hell, along with your mirror image.
• In addition, if you drop any of your items on the floor, your mirror image will drop the items that you drop, but she will not literally drop them on the floor, it will not be visible.
• Also, as soon as you pick up the item your Mirror Image drops, you will be transported back to town automatically. If you make a TP before you pick up the item your Mirror Drops, you will be sent back to town. Nothing is easy.
Final Comment
- Fix the error of losing items. I had a friend who was doing Uber Tristram. He died about 3 times without his body, exited and re-entered, and he lost almost all of his best equipment.
-If you release a new secret quest or new runewords, don’t tell the public. I believe you guys should activate the Scrolls of Knowledge, which would show all of the new runewords, and would only be activated for about 3 months. The Scrolls of Knowledge would also tell us what the secret quest is, and some clues on how to do it.
-Don’t run Full Russtorm during the rest of this season, when the season ends, or on Non-Ladder, ever. People would be furious. Especially the non-cheaters. If there is a New Ladder, everything should start off fresh, with all of the duped runes and such not existing (A Diablo 2 Utopia). I don’t want to see any of my good Runeword Items disappearing during this ladder season, at the end of it, and in Non-Ladder. I would be very disappointed.
- Fix the lag, please (everyone agrees, although we know lag is not possible to fix).
- Ban the word: “lag” . I’m tired of seeing people say
“LAG”, “fricking (substituted word) lag” and anything you can imagine with this word (“I’ll make love to this lag”…).
- Please make it so that Torches can be traded for torches in the trade window, I am a horrible drop trade trader.
- Fix all bugs with weaps/chars/whatever else.
I really hope you guys add all of the suggestions that I have made, this would make the game more appealing to long-time players, and could possibly lure some new players. I also hope you guys don’t make Diablo 3, although I hear Hellgate: London is like Diablo. I’m too used to Diablo, if it dies, I die. Not true.

Someone mind posting this at the battle.net forum link. It says my password is wrong, even though I type it right.
Nice ideas. Mail it to blizzard.
One comment tho. Some of these would quite an opportunity to make a huge wealth, and overpower some items. As the 1-4 sockets to a unique/set armor or something. Thats kinda huge. And the clone of yourself would be kinda weird also, with it dropping alot of weird stuff. And the chance of it appearing would have to be nerfed, so you cant just hang in a game. Something like a chance of it appearing every time you kill a bosspack or something.
And also, "duping should be fixed" is kinda vague. To fix duping you would have to fix lag, which is almost next to impossible.
Also, the body popping bug. If they did take it away, it would only lead to infinite mules. Mules that would carry 10 sets of items. You would equip a mule, kill it, equip it again, kill it etc etc. So the mule would "carry" lots of stuff on its corpses. It just wouldnt be "realistic" (if you can say so in a game where you press a button and live again) for a char to be able to have 100 corpses packed with gear.
Otherwise good points

YES! YES! OH GOD YES!
Enter, join, drop, exit, enter, join, drop, exit, enter, join, drop, exit...well, you get the idea. And that's assuming you don't trip a temp ban. You know what? Save the clicks on my mouse. Save the rapid connection/disconnection on your severs x1000/hour. Let me mule across my entire account IN GAME. Something to the effect of Click, Click, Sip coffee, Smile, Done.
Here's why I'm so stoked by that idea: Didn't I do the hard part already?
I leveled a sorceress to 87 (Cow-Run, Baal-Run, Chaos-Run, Re-Run, Re-Re-Run), I spent hours trying to find the basic equipment requirements to survive in Hell (My fingers hurt!), I spent hours trying to trade for the equipment to survive Hell (No, I'm not going to give you my ethereal Shaftstop for 2 chipped gems and half a tome of TP), I spent hours running quests to gain that precious extra 10 to resist all, or those 2 extra skill points. Assisted by my very skilled and cunning mercenary, I killed monsters in Hell. Well actually I died, I lost experience, I lost gold, I had to resuurect my mercenary, I found my body, I reloaded my belt (Grr, pet peeve - automate a belt reload after picking up your body!) but finally, lo and behold, Meph dropped a Titan's! Boo yeah...now, if only I could get it to my Javazon...

It's so overpowered. 4 socket HoZ, Stormshields, Tal's armor, Valor, etc. Imagine a 6 socketed Windforce! That's going to blow away even the godliest Faith.
I liked the other suggestions though.
We posted this over at the SPF and came up with a few suggestions

And also, "duping should be fixed" is kinda vague. To fix duping you would have to fix lag, which is almost next to impossible.
Or, they could run a rust storm on a regular basis. Something like, daily or weekly around 9am for whatever time zone the server is in (east would be on EST, etc) That way, it'll lag when the fewest people are on, and all dupes will dissappear in under 24 hours every time (effectively crushing the HR issue). Having it only work on unsocketed runes would also be best, so that if someone does manage to trade for a HR, they don't have to worry that it was for nothing.
Also, with fighting a mirror image: I think that it should be something that isn't random. DClone is stupid because it's basically impossible to find him for the average player. There should be a special quest to unlock it. I'd say something along the lines of popping every gold chest in a game, then the last one drops a potion, which you cube with wirts leg and a portal scroll in order to open the portal to fight your clone. Make it something like cows where you can only kill your clone once per difficulty level. This makes it accessable to the general public. All of the item dropping suggestions are a bit too complicated with "dropping something random from your inventory," so it could be simplified by saying that your clone has a TC equal to your current level, and it'll drop one unique. A lvl 95 char might get Tyreal's armor, might get a Diggler, you don't know... I think that this would be the best way of going about it.
1) Dclone- he's supposed to be random, which is why they gave us the Uber's.(thats was fun for about a month eh?) Although, he isn't really rare anymore he's just been isolated by the rich.
2)Hammerdins- everyone wants this guy wiped off the face of the earth.(well Sanctuary anyway) Ok, let's ignore that fact that his damage is "Holy" for a second. There that makes everything all better now right? While we're at it, let's remove Enigma.(can't have people teleporting around now can we?) Now everyone's happy. Wrong! Some suggestions for a more "balanced" game seem to end there. In other words, "Zomg, please don't remove BO from CTA!!! I'd die if I totally couldn't steal the barbarian's skills for my sorceress!"
Let's remove "all" unique's and Runewords that grant an Oskill, period. Now I don't want it this way but if people are going to gripe and complain about it, I'd rather see them all go. Hey, they could always remove Runes, synergies, charms and merc's and such and call it Diablo.
3)I was gonna say something about making certain skills more viable and have certain classes shored up a bit but ya know, I just don't see it happening in a patch. So why bother?
4) Fighting a mirror image of yourself? That sounds suspiciously like "dueling" to me, it's already in the game. Join any duel game and presto, there's seven other characters that look just like yours! Great idea for Zelda, for D2 not so much.
5)Where are the last three Runeword's? If any............
6)There is NOTHING wrong with HR drops! Want them? Better be prepared to kill monsters, lots and lots of mosters!(full clears in level 85 area's anyone?) Funny though, they seem to drop more often that a damned Sander's Cap!(hey how about fixing that Blizz!? Free Sander's Caps for everyone as compensation for having to wait an eternity to collect this set?!)
7)There really weren't a 5,6 or 7 but due to obsessive compulsive disorder, I had to include them.:flip: :badteeth:

As I see it, the Ubers are confined to the rich as well. I've played this game for years, and since 1.11, I've hardly been able to dent hell. I've gotten one char into A2 under it's own power, but otherwise, nothing seems to work without what I'd consider godly equipment. As a result, they keep adding things to the game to keep the interest of the highest level of gamer, while it just adds frustration to the rest of us. I've never found a key, never seen Ubers, never seen DClone, never found a rune above an Um, etc, etc. Everything added seems to be all for the wealthiest of the gamers on Bnet.

Yes I see your point. Runewords like Black, Treachery, Lionheart, Smoke and Crescent Moon are complete crap and so hard to make. I don't know how I ever got through the game with them. Oh wait, you said you needed Godly equipment to complete the game with. My bad.
Keys like everything take many runs, but that's the only requirement. Yeah Hell difficulty is "tough". Wonder why they call it Hell difficulty anyway? It's just not fair, you have to play the game and trade to get the best stuff. It'd be so much better if we could all begin the game with the best items, all quests done and ignore the whole storyline alltogether. Every monster encountered should drop a 15%ED 3os Archon Plate and Jah Ith Ber as well.
Perhaps they could mix it up a bit depending on the character you're playing. This way they could finally eliminate all those crappy rares and uniques that drop and clog up my screen and prevent me from teleporting sometimes.

As I see it, the Ubers are confined to the rich as well.Tell that to all the people killing Ubers with craptastical gear.
There's a person called "Poorman" somewhere out there that defeated the Ubers in hardcore using gear most wouldn't even consider picking up.
I've never found a key, never seen UbersIs Countess and Summoner really that hard to kill? Hell, sometimes I kill them before I even see them. The only one that poses a slight problem would be Nihlathak, and even then, he's pretty easy to dispose of if you know what you're doing. This is without "godly" gear. Perhaps the reason you've never seen a Key drop is because you haven't done enough runs.
That ****ing shared chest!!
My ****ing trang-oul´s set are gone because i chanced chara and bnet banned me for 1 hour
Sorry about using f-word.. I am too sad to think clearly now

Haha! That's nothing compared to my reaction upon losing Sander's Cap back in Season One. Must've taken me a good 2 hours to speak my mind about that, another 2 hours to get over it and another hour before I logged back on and went back to business as usual. Still a little upset about that, but it was my fault for expecting the game to be there when I logged back in with another character. :duh:
Characters are good balance now. If they make hammerdin weaker, then babas and necros would rule, then sorceress and druids, when it gonna end?
Good necro, baba, pala and sorceress have any enemies that they cant kill (ok absorbing guys with sorceress)
But PvP is rich man hobby nowdays, you cant make good PvP chara without gear.
And annihilus etc.
I am going to work and school at same time, when i come from school, i go to work, when i come from work, i do homeworks (from school) and home works, like cook food, dish, cleaning (living rental aparment alone). I can play 1-2 hour normal days, in weekend 2-5h. In diablo i can only run mfing, i tried to duel.
Its fun to duel when your opponents have (talking about paladin) 7k smite, 15k hammer and +20k charce AND enigma.
But they can be beaten, by other rich chara.
So everybody can have Uber L33t stuff, but it needs work (not much as nowdays)
And about drops, everybody have same drops, it isnt fun when you are mfing and some grabber will take the uniques and sets.. Like if there is 4players, then there drops 4 same kinda items, like quest items, others cant pick them up

From all of the ideas listed in battle.net forums I like one.
Someone mentioned that absorbing should be capped in PVP, just like PDR is.
Would be nice to see, sorcs would be nice again :)
• When you kill your mirror image, they have a 100% chance of dropping any item in your inventory, whether that be a Teleportal Tome, a Potion, or a 30% resist all Maras.
Someone mind posting this at the battle.net forum link. It says my password is wrong, even though I type it right.
AKA legal dupe
This wuold enable duping... get off all ALL your items except those of really high value and start randomly walking until it happens.... then kill off your clone (it has the same items so NP) and 1 of your uberitems drops... duped!

Balance out the runewords by revamping an underpowered class inorder to make those runewords less used. Such as by making the Kicker Sin better with some kind of Unique Boot, so that people will pick it over, say, a Smiter with Exile, Chains of Honor, and Grief.
An easy Unique Boot:
Unique Myrmidon Greaves
100% Enhanced Defence
+3 to Martial Arts Skills
60% Faster Run Walk
Adds 50-100 Kick Damage
50% Crushing Blow
The kick damage could be applied before ED, so a simple Last Wish + these Boots would be enough damage and Crushing Blow for the Sin to run Ubers and to even duel.
It would be nice if the Uber Diablo and Uber Tristram events could also happen in Single Player games, for those of us with crappy internet connections..
I'd also very much like it if some of the "guest monsters" in act V could be removed. There are way too many of the annoying variety there now, with Zealots, Flayers, Leapers, Vampires.. Basically, remove all of the "run-away-when-hit-so-the-act-takes-100-times-longer-to-complete" monsters. They remove all the fun I have with this game.. I never play Act V through just for fun anymore, although I did so all the time in 1.09 :/

I would like to see better mercenary AI. Traveling around in places like the Arcane Sanctuary is a little tough if you don't teleport. I think this could simply be fixed by having their movement mimic yours more. So they follow your exact path more often than not. Shortening up their delay on following you would also help. If you have faster run/walk items on, maybe give that amount to the mercenary also, so they don't lag behind when you're running. Shortening the time before they teleport to your location could also be helpful.

I would like to see better mercenary AI.
Generally, I agree with this, but feel that it should be taken a step further. At this point, all of the mercs act in about the same way, even though one is a little with a bow, and another a hulking sword-weilder. How about having them act as they actually would? A1 and A3 mercs should generally stay a few paces behind you to fire in semi-safety, while A2 and A5 mercs should generally move with you or a few paces ahead. This could be further refined for A2 mercs based on their aura. Might and Holy Freeze mercs move a few paces ahead, Prayer and Defiance mercs move with you (closer vecinity), etc.

i dont know if this has been said because i didnt read all the pages, but Id really love to see a Keyword Search in the join game menu, example : you could search for the keyword duel, or baal..etc... and all the games with those words in the title would show instead of the useless games you arent looking for, also be able to see norm, and nm, games even if youre in hell mode(because its frustrating to have to switch chars just to find a game in a lower mode). I dont know if these would be possible to do just in a patch( but perhaps if there is a Diablo3 these would be good ideas in my opinion :D )

I agree that having a use for the Gul rune on NL is a good thing, but this recipe is not. It's so overpowered. 4 socket HoZ, Stormshields, Tal's armor, Valor, etc. Imagine a 6 socketed Windforce! That's going to blow away even the godliest Faith.
I liked the other suggestions though.
Imagine a 6 40/15 Ias Jewels WF ^^ 490 ED 110 Ias :)
Using the Dmg Calcalator on this site with good stat gear (20 anni 20 torch 15 str LL Ring / 20 Raven 15 Str Treks etc.. ) One could easily achieve 450 +Dex at lvl 90 with that rig and if that was allowed would essential if using fort would do in the area of a round 75-850 + Dmg (Avg around 450 + Dmg, Good god that would be insane, If that allowed Bowies would be back in a MAJOR way!)
Theirs a couple other uniques that if this was allowed would make this addition a smidgen over the top! Personally I like the idea:)
I have a coupla tweaks, but before I start criticising
D2 rocks:grin: !
Alright, so tweaks?
1) Merciless slaughter of all things Hacked (You seem to be keeping on top of this pretty well!) You want hacked/bugged/unlegit gear, go play on the open net or Single Player. That's where I do my hacking 'cause that's where it's supposed to be done, if done at all. Nuff said.
2) a)Spam bots...I know you would if you could, but this is my wishlist so...ban all spam bots.
b) Baaling Bots - "You banned all the Baal bots and now I can't reach level 85 in 2 hours anyore!" Music to my ears! Good job, and that's not even sarcastic. Maybe people will have to actually have to kill some of the critters for themselves.
3) Transferring gear - I don't know what you could do to get around it, but maybe access to your inventory from the character selection screen? Rentable lockers in-game you could leave gear in? Sorta like a stash but it stays in the game, not with the character...I'm reaching I know but losing gear during a transfer? Arg.
4) Temp ban...the guy with the timer idea is on to something!
5) a) "Rich vs. Poor" - I would like to see all players have an equal opportunity to get the top end gear. Again, I don't have an idea how you'd do that but I don't believe that everyone does have an equal opportunity. On the other hand I don't really feel like discussing economics in a capitalist system so if you disagree about the equal op thing then let's agree to disagree
b) Make the top end gear less of a requirement for "just playing the game." It may be just me, but I'm not into making my character godly. I'm ok with dying every now and then, and especially if I was doing something stupid. I just don't want to have to have $500 worth of gear I bought on ebay to play through Hell Act5. Conclusion?
Let the gamers play the game, and let UberGodlySmiteUrAzzWithAWetNoodle and his "godly gear" duel with GodlyUberPimpedOutPwnJooKrazyMoFo and his Ethereal, Bugged, Perfect, Zod'd whoopin stick. There's room for both
6) Hardcore should be were the "godly" gear is. Or at least the godliest. 'Cause when you really think about it, who needs it more? I don't play HC anymore, but I did for a while. It turns its bad for my blood pressure. For the guys that do play HC? Throw 'em a bone.
7) Ban the word Noob. Apparently everyone on the battle.net was born with a fully done out D2 account
8) Prevent Flooding - Add "Groups" to the Friends list
<edit>
9) Mercs AI! Already been covered in this thread, but I'll second that motion!
</edit>
That's my two cents...
D2 LoD - $30
Cable internet - $40/month
10000 hours of gameplay - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Playing through the Pain till you find that Windforce - Priceless
Wicked game, keep up the good work.

I would like to see more Runewords (Lots more in fact, and RW's beneficial from low lvl to end game gear) but in particular I would like to see an uber godly Runeword for one subclass that has been neglected for far TOO long ...
The Spearie!
Is that too much to ask for a a 4-5 Os Eth Zon Only Spear RW that makes EBOTD look like a childs toy?
(500% Ed, 10% CTC Amp on Striking, 25 Res All , 50% CB, 30% MF, 80 Ias) I mean, wheres the luv Bliz , where's the luv?

Post I made, I'd like to see if for the most part you guys like my ideas...
I really doubt that you guys over there would get to this post in the mass sea of this topic, but I got some things I think pretty much everyone can agree on, mostly balance issues:
1) PLEASE find a way to get rid of those item-selling spam-bots. They are absolutely worthless and I've had times where two enter at once and cover a whole screen in spam.
2) Hammerdins are overpowered PvM. I really don't see how anyone can argue that their not. Instead of taking away their power though, how bout we add a few more magic immune and/or resistant mobs and take away Hammer's ability to ignore undead and demon resists.
3) Spearzons really need some loving. They have so much potential with a whole tree devoted to them yet they are so gimped. And there really is not reason currently to even wield a two-handed spear. My suggestions:
a)The dodge/evade bugs NEED to be fixed.
b)Make it so that fend/jab/impale give even more bonuses to a 2hnded spear and maybe a small boost in overall damage (synergies perhaps?)
4) Werebear druids could use an overall boost. They are very difficult to make without top tier gear and runewords. Perhaps give maul some synergies to attack rating or damage?
5) Summon druids. This is another case of a whole skill tree being somewhat underpowered. They got a nice boost in 1.10 but it's still not enough. A very easy fix would be to enable them to have wolves and a bear out at the same time. This seems like it would make them almost on the same level as a summon-based necromancer.
6) Throw barbs could use a bit of a boost, maybe just better throwing items or again an increase in either Throwing Mastery or Double Throw's synergy bonus. Some better throwing items could be usefull.
7) The elemental line in a bowzon's Bow and Crossbow tree should be looked at. Not even with godly gear is this really viable.
8) And the final class build I feel that should be tweaked is Martial Arts Assassins. These could definatlly use an increase in the damage they deal. Going through the trouble of getting three charges on an elemental type skill isn't worth the damage output it does. And maybe explore the possibilties of making Dragon Claw a skill like Double Swing?
9) There are a few more miscellanious skills/bugs that could be looked at, such as Necromancer's golem line and horrible cast delay from Trang's set, Sorceress's cold armors, Assassin's fire traps, blade skills and psychic hammer, Druid's sprit of barbs, and a fix to the damage over time skills (firewall, inferno, arctic blast).
Well that's most of the major tweaks I can think of. I really appriciate it if you did read this, as I put a lot of time into it. Thank you for this great game I have been playing for 3 years now, and I look very much forward to the future of it and what it brings.
I would like to see the holy bolts from foh actually heal party members, and make them dmg the targeted monster, i would also like to see holybolts dmging demons(both foh's bolts and those from the skill holy bolt).
Make throwíng weapons go longer before they disappear (i'm sure a barbarian can throw longer than a screen away from himself w/ an axe:tongue:).
Make the vampire(atleast trang-oul vamp) a "real" vampire, i mean come on, a skeleton? where does it even keep the blood it's suppose to be drinking?
And cut off the werewolfs tail, i've read in numerous of werewolf books that werewolfs do not have tails.
I would also like some sort of parry w/ two handed weapons(a bit like weapon block), this would perhaps increase the number of people using two handed weapons.
Some of the things above might not be possible to do in a patch, but then in diabloIII then.

I like most of the ideas that have been mentioned. Especially the refill belt button when you die. I get so tired when out of no where one of baal's minnons kills me and i cant fill my belt before they kill baal and i get nothing from the drop. I would also love the duping problem to go away. I just had my best item (SOJ) poof on me yesterday and i was and still am pissed. There should be a good/useful runeword using the gul rune which is worth around an um which is a much lower rune. The last thing i would like to say is to make standard of heros somewhat useful. Maybe put 10 and a tome of town portal in your cube and you get a uber of somesort.
Biggest problem (imho) in general gameplay is rich vs poor.
My friend started playing diablo, played it 2 weeks.
Bored, because it´s too hopeless to get average wealth ( i mean 50ist).
Its nice to see that people who knows people who can do dupe, are more powerful than others. Those uberstuff should be more easily achieve, then there is more balanced dueling and skill (gameplay, not gc) matters more.
It´s fair that those who play 24/7 have better stuff than average player, but that ruins average players (who wants pvp) feeling about game.
For BNet: Continue to rid yourselves of all things hacked and show no mercy to the morons that do continue to make internet play a pain for everybody else. This means no duped items of any kind, no bots of any description and permanent bans galore.
Having said this, if you don't want any of your items to disappear then there's a simple solution. Don't bloody trade with anyone. We do it all the time in Single Player so BNet shouldn't be any different. You can complete this game without high level gear, especially in softcore. You don't need a character that's decked out with high level runewords to make the most of your gaming experience. The problem with BNet isn't duping. The problem is that most of you have become so accustomed to trying to trade for the best items in the game that you've forgotten how enjoyable the game actually is when you've worked to find certain items. Need runes? Run the Countess. Need items? Do Hell Meph runs or raid the level 85 areas. Need experience? Do Baal runs. But most of all, don't ***** that it's such a slow task for you. It's meant to be. If you don't like it, abandon your BNet account and throw your Diablo II CDs away - both sides will be better off for it.
I shall think of more later, but it irks me that people complain about not being able to complete the game without finding the most unfindable gear when there's people in the Single Player Forum beating the game in Hardcore with melee characters that use absolutely no weapons, gear or charms. If you can't beat the game using what you have...better gear isn't the answer. You're simply either not cut out to play that character, haven't planned your character right with regards to skills or stat points or you simply aren't using the right tactics with that certain build. A player with mid-level gear who knows what he's doing will most certainly go further than a player who has the best equipment in the game and doesn't know what he's doing.

When diablo 2 came to stores, i did buy it.
I have played it, single-player most.
I have kill hell baal naked (in classic and in LoD).
I have try fun-builds, Pvm and PvP builds in single-player and in tcp/ip with my friends. Now i started playing in Bnet, i wanna duel with people, like some my friends.
Atleast one stopped because its too "difficulty" (=timetaking) to get good stuff. If you wanna be succesfull in PvP, you need good stuff. And few options
a) play so long that you find them.
b) trade for them.
wanna try to kill bonenecro (who has enigma) with meleebuild (without enigma). Or same build that you have, when he has better stuff, example: you have some normal stuff, he has enigma, 50%dr and 95resist and maybe absorb.
Diablo is awesome game, but this poor vs rich thing sucks.
I think that kvark :hanky: diablo.
When you have "master" in PvM, you want to try PvP.
Nice thing that PvP is "available" only for rich.

You could try following PvP modes:
a)level up to lv9, then duel - only items found/bought in this game are allowed...fast and funny
b)make an character using the -act5 command line parameter and make a duel with lv33 characters: So you can use all skills and more items... and it is also fast and funny
I think it is good that you can become rich in D2. The problem is that the rich people often become rich by duping and botting and not by playing and trading.
Just my 2 cents

Anyway's i think it would be cool if when you create your charecter you can also pick another thing
Example:
You may pick as well as your class
to be a
Scout : see all map or maybe plus 50 light radius or something
Wizard: +5% magic dmg
Warrior: +5% physical dmg
Perhaps something like that would be cool and may help out with getting rid of mh.

Wow. GREAT idea. Specialized characters would indeed be pretty cool.
That made me think of something.
For example I'll take the Paladin.
If I want a Zealot, I would take Warrior type. He'd start with less mana, more strength and mana. Points in Vitality and Strength would boost him a lot, but points in Energy would give pitiful mana.
If I want a Foher/Hammerdin, I would choose Mage type. He'd start with less life, less strength, but his skills would be greatly boosted (although the Hammerdin should be nerfed in some way...). He would also not get the same life bonus as a Warrior if I put points in Vitality.
And to stop Warriors from becoming Hammerdins (to keep the huge life boost from Warriors), Blessed Hammer would cost a lot more mana, which is what the Warrior lacks.
For other classes, like the Barbarian, there would be no Mage Class; maybe instead a Singer class, where the Warcries are incredibly boosted, but Weapon masteries would be much less effective.
Dunno about the Scout though... random maps are part of the game, and revealing them is like a legit maphack.

In hell/nightmare diffulties, don't drop crud!! Long swords don't hack it. Ordinary axe can't cut it. Cloth Armor is diaphonous. Light belt no longer hold up pants. So just don't drop those items!!!
Diablo is not mud, so no maphacks period.

Everyone has made great suggestions so far... I can't really think of any to add at the moment, so I'll just agree with the few that really caught my eye...
1) The Gul rune needs a use in NL.
2) The SoH really needs a use... Period...
3) DClone needs to be spawned in a different way... Perhaps with the SoH, and SoJ's together somehow?
4) Tell us what the last 3 or so new runewords are!!!!!
5) A temp-ban/realm down timer would be nice...
And my silly little input:
6) The use of the word "noob" either in game or in chat rooms should grant the user of said word a temp-ban/realm down... That would be funny...

Your thinking souly about PvM.
PvP on USEast is insane. I Melee-Only with a Fury Druid. He's got some great gear: Upgraded Shaftstop, eBOTDz, Jalals, FHR/stat belt, Goreriders, Dracs, Angelic Combo, Call to Arms, Lidless, a whole bunch of Shapeshifting Lifers and life/ar/max small charms. I also have Anni and Torch. Yet, despite that, I go into "Melee Duels" game and Smiters will kill me and spam "noob" and claim I am poor. I am relatively rich, in my opinion. Not uber rich with 9x 45 life Shapeshifting GCs. I have 35, 33, 29, 28, 27, 25, 19, 17, 16 life Shapeshifting GCs. Some cost me alot, some didn't. I don't have much left to trade to make myself more powerful. I can kill in PvP, but I'm no where as efficient as some of that other people in there. Most public Duel games are full of rich, rich people. In my opinion, PvP is just as important as PvM. I can kill anything in the game with my build, with simple gear switches and skill changes. Let's see your single player builds PvP with us. They won't last, I garentee it. It's skill and equipment in PvP. The difference between my good gear and the "godly" gear is about 4k life and 2k damage. That's alot in PvP.
All of what I just said seems to have no point, right? Well it does. People are going to constantly try to be good enough to survive in these Duel games. It's no fun when you can solo Hell, but get killed over and over again by every pubby dueler. People with trade for runewords, and people who don't cheat should not be punished with their gear dissapearing. Maybe BNet should concentrate more on getting rid of Dupers, and less on getting rid of dupes. I doubt duping is an instantanious process, so allowing a few dupes to get through isn't much of a problem. HRs shouldn't even be as rare as they are to begin with, their bonuses aren't even that great for their rarity (See Vex and Mal). Stop telling people they shouldn't use the best gear they can, because part of the game is PvP, and people will constantly want to be better than others.
To sum up how I feel, yes we can finish the game in mid-level gear. But when it's time to PvP, we want to best, and it's unfair to trade all your stuff to make one complete character, and then lose key componets when you've been playing legitly. I don't trade for 40/15s, 3/20/20s, or any of the such. But HRs are part of the game. Good gear and competition is part of the game.

I don't PvP, but I do know that people like that have probably duped their items, bough them, etc. Then they call people noobs to make them feel superior. Why? It is because they need to show their superiority in something, but can't find any useful way of doing this.
For them, God in Diablo II = God in real life.
However, I do agree when you say that in PvP, you better have the best gear you can get. It's a competition, you must put all your chances on your side. It's like that even in real life. If only there weren't overpowered runewords/uniques and that all items would be balanced, it would make PvP fairer.

Ive got an idea for the SoH Sorta , If you cube the soh and say 1 of each pgem then 1 random item replaces them . The item can ba any unique any base item with max soccet's or any set item it as completely at random.
This sound crap>? lol
I don't think Blizzard will work this into a patch, but maybe D3.
Someone already suggested a class specialization, how about multiclass?

Over 85% of these suggestions are ridiculous, blizzard has not yet announced that the next ladder will include a patch. The only things that we can expect to be added if a new patch is release are:
- 3-5 New Runewords
- Bug Fixes
- New Uniques
Yes, patch 1.10 added the Uber Diablo quest, but it used graphics that have been available (Anni --> Meph Stone, Diablo --> Uber Diablo, Soj --> Soj)
1.11 added the Torch Quest, and the Pandemonium keys,Torch, organs, and flag (soh) graphics have been hidden in the game's code since the release of classic diablo, the current modding staff for battle.net does not have enough knowledge to add new graphics to the game, and do not expect them to add any, so do not expect any new quest like being able to fight a clone of your character, it will not happen, if a new quest is added expect it to be like the Uber Icehawk Riftwing quest in Nefarius' Antibalance mod on the Phrozen Keep.

they have textures for you clone, they have AI for it. what is missing?

That's why it's called Suggestions, not "guaranteed new features".

The "fight your clone" quest does not require new graphics. It's a clone of your character.
Yes it will require some programming, but it is not impossible.

I say, and lets be honest..., increased stamina is not worth a thing by the level you can actually put a point into it. Why not have a cross between weapon block and impale where the barb who is double wielding has a chance to block attacks, but at the cost of durability like a shield would take, or like impale where 25% chance to lose x durability. I honestly think this skill is even less useful than grim ward.

I admit that that we will not see new monsters/chars in a new patch, but you simply cannot know what will happen.I remember before1.11 patch 95% of this board were saying:blizzard dont care about D2lod,they focus other games,it brings no money anymore so they let it die...what happened?
New Quest..new uniques
Banning wave vs Mh/cheaters
New runewords

The Ubertristram Quest is based on already used graphics, yes but in the suggestions thread on battle.net there are enough ideas for new quests with existing graphics.Blizzard will add new quests, i am VERY sure about this, they dont make a suggestions thread for nothing. The reason why there is no ladder reset yet is like a proof for me that there will be new stuff added.

the last ladder was longer then this one is, nothing changed there though ;)
And cut off the werewolfs tail, i've read in numerous of werewolf books that werewolfs do not have tails.
I would also like some sort of parry w/ two handed weapons(a bit like weapon block), this would perhaps increase the number of people using two handed weapons.
Some of the things above might not be possible to do in a patch, but then in diabloIII then.
werewolfs do have tails AFAIK, however when it gets cut off the druid isn't able to shapeshift anymore :lipsrsealed:. If it gets cut off the tail will return in it's original form, this is called the Coccyx (the remains of our tail). breaking it just makes it hurt like hell to sit, if a wolf tail reverted to that I'm guessing the person has lost a good deal of skin off thier *** and a bone about the size of the first joint on you pinky. However because a werewolf is able to regenerate parts of his body he will probably do that, this way he is able to shift again.
this is 100% sure and i have a very very reliable source! got the info of a site that has members who claim to be a werewolf etc ^^ so they prolly know it

Ladder season 3 lasts from august8th 2005 until now^^...
Yes, the last season was longer than this one,but if the reset will be in october this one will be longer..what is the point??
Judgement day 1 and Judgement day 2 happened in ladder3... this is nothing?
The 1.11 patch came 1 week before reset,it was introduced to give an incentive to play the new season,as i said new quests/rws were added..the mystery of the missing 3 rws remains and the mystery of the SOHs(if there is one), this is nothing changed?

My 2 cent:
Hammerdins are nice for one reason, their nice power. They give players the chance of making an unstoppable pvm build. Why some choose this build is because of the fantacy of being über. You have the choise of making what ever build you want to make, from an complete underdog to a killing machine. I would how ever see an unique/rw that gives resistance against magic dmg.
Enigma is not overpowered, if you found the runes yourself the rw are totally balanced. Complain about the dupes not the runewords ><.
Higher Pvp penalty against blizz sosos.

I would love to see the PvP changed so that you can't duel someone without them choosing to duel you. Each person should be hostile to one another before the duel can start. I have spent hours trying to find a duel game WITHOUT some !@#hole ruining it. I have a lvl 93 elite PvP zealer. I made the zeal build for a reason. I, along with many I play against in zeal tourneys, enjoy the one on one duels. What happens when you make a game called 'Zeal duels'? Inevitably some jerk with a blizz sorc or trapsin will fudge it up. Soooooooo many good duels have come to a screeching halt.
The way Pvp is designed, it caters to the cheaters, hackers, and dupers. Pk'ers, Nk'ers and just idiots in general, get their kicks from jacking up others that are just trying to have fun and test their builds. Hell people even do that in teams. It happens all the time. Two or three lvl 90+ chars will show up in a LLD, and wipe it out. FIX THE DAMN DUELS BLIZZARD!!!!
I could care less, honestly, who dupes, cheats, and hacks. They can kiss my rear. Doesn't affect me at all. Until I enter a PvP game. Then they shine.
What really surprises me is the fact that I really never hear anyone mention this on the forum. Am I the only one that gets pissed about the "no-choice" duels?

As interesting as that sounds there are also some gross points involved at least from a PVP point of view... What if you join a game and see someone NKing a Tal's Sorc and her buddy the IK Barb - nobility and all, I would step in and attempt to stop it. If you needed it to be mutual alot of duels wouldn't occur because you'd get trash talking wimps who sit on the bridge or run out to jack any gold that may drop all the while being free from hostility.
IMO, if you don't like the game - feel free to leave, there is nothing keeping you there. OFC when you make a pub Melee duels you'll get the FCing zons and TGing Trappers - that is the nature of battlenet. Next time whisper the folks you want to duel and make it private.
Kiddies are everywhere, and while that is a cool idea - I believe it could detract from a PVP experience. This would essentially eliminate all PK'ers in PVM games though  .
Personally, I'd like new things to do. A few new quests, and not just the "extremely hard" uber quests. Just use a few of the rarely seen maps, and remake them into something new.
An idea would be to follow the lost river, using the kurast jungle maps, until you find some lost gem mine or similar. Perhaps a long trek through the jungle, ending with an abandoned entry point (like the swampy pit screen), then you enter into a temple of WSK architecture, until you find something special, Given the crystal nature of WSK, maybe it could be a very gem rich environment, perhaps using the warrior tomb graphics as storage chests for mined gems? Of course, a nice guardian or three would be nice. Or,better yet: make it a race between the party and a barbarian party, using the ancients (now released from their guard duty, having failed to protect the stone) accompanied by the barbarians? The standard AI of the barbarians should work reasonably well. If thy beat you to he end, you just can't get into the last area, making speed more important than pure killing power. All that would be needed next would be a way to make the place dangerous to teleporters...
Or something stone themed? The Ancient runeforge in the heart of a volcano, for example? First, the approach , using the Arreat tileset to create the volcano outer slopes. End it with a destroyed city, grouping many of the destroyed shacks, until one gets to the entrance to the mine. Now, something stony, maybe? So you can next use the act 1 caves tileset to simulate a cooled lava flow. Next, the interior, using the river of flame tileset, with several decorative hellforges. Now, all that is needed is to get some sort of reward, like a retreating party of hell minions. These primarily run, until you catch up. Some would be "loot bearers", that would be protected by "guards". Kill a loot bearer, and you get whatever he carried - make those noticeable rune drops, with the harder the monster, the better the drop (many rune drops, yielding tons of low runes, with small chances for a medium one, perhaps?) Maybe one could use the suicide minions as carriers (Runes being implanted in the usually explosive bulges?) With lashers making them speed up, and some rarely used monsters as warriors? Like standard warriors at the rear (that you catch up with first), up to the raid commander, escorted by lister type minions? Oh, the raid commander could be the Blood raven model, we don't see that one much...
How about it?

There would be no nk'ing if what I purposed was initiated. I've been a victim of surprise NK's at some very unfortunate times.

I hear ya, but fella, I get tired of "leaving the game" just because some jerk gets his jollies from the irritation of all involved.
I participate in elite zeal tourneys with a tight group of zealers on east lad. We each throw in an item, HR, or something of high value. Then play off two at a time in a best of three until there is only one left, and he gets the whole pot. Now thats PvP. Unfortunately the way it is now, public duels are a place for the kiddies to vent their days frustrations on the unsuspecting public.
If you needed it to be mutual alot of duels wouldn't occur because you'd get trash talking wimps who sit on the bridge or run out to jack any gold that may drop all the while being free from hostility.
Point noted.
I feel that more duels would occur if my idea was implemented. I say this because of ALL the duels that didn't occur simply due to the moron trouble makers.
Low level duels are where the issue really takes root. At level 20-50, players test the build and equipment of their chars, without the benefit of godly runewords. But what happens in most LLD's is as follows. One fella gets all pissy about one thing or another. "I'll brb" he says. Then he re-enters the LLD with his lvl 95 Trapsin or what not, then exponentially each respective player with high LvL chars leaves and returns with their godlies. Thus the LLD duel game that is classified as a NORM or NM game , is now filled with Hell duelers. Leaving the new player or unfortunate poor players to stand at the bridge and gawk.
.......and as for the gold thieves, meh gold is soooo easy to come by in D2 that I don't know why people even bother to care. Strap on chancies, goldwrap, and a gheeds, go to trav about 3 times and your rich with gold.

Interesting, way to see it but what if the sorc had orignally mutualed it, along with her Barb counterpart. I suppose they could just leave the game, but they shouldn't have to because someone is being a jerk (I agree with you there). You should be able to step in.

True that. Go into a game all you hear is n00b, i pwnz all, s/e, cheater, nker, blah, blah, blah. However, your elite duels shouldn't be in pubs anyway . In my experience the people in public games are truely lacking in any sort of skill, so while xxGodLeHTrApPeRxx joins melee duels - you should be able to beat her.

Agreed. However, there are ways to circumvent this eventuality, namely restricting levels. OFC this is not the case in every game. I do like the idea, but at the same time I don't. It would eliminate the jumping that is commonplace in public games, as well as the e-raging through NKs and such. But I still forsee the pansy (squelch is always an option though).

Some people get awfully offended if someone takes their gold, both in PVM and PVP. Maybe it is a sign of your superiority or sticky fingers, but I have noticed it is commonplace to hop on that yellow pile. I don't have that sort of problem OFC (keep the money for repairs) dropping it on a wp before entering the duels  . Repairs are costly sometimes.

However, your elite duels shouldn't be in pubs anyway .
They aren't. I got in on zeal tourneys by joining 'zeal duel' games and when the casters show up to fudge it, they whispered to me game name and pass for the zeal duels. From there I got in on it.
Unfortunately they zealers aren't always on, and my choice of melee duels is limited to whether or not some jerk comes along.

True melee builds can't handle casters and ranged attacks. You should know this.
True melee builds can't handle casters and ranged attacks. You should know this.
I hope that was sarcasm  - so hard to tell when reading...
Then I guess the question is what is a true melee build? I'm all confuzled... WW Barb melee? Smiter? Zealer? WW Assn? Fury Druid? Because in my experience Godleh Trapper, FC Zon, and Teleing Sorc (pubs not necessarily the best of the realms) usually don't stack up.
