I can probably grab the damage order and equation from any information page on this forum or Strategy Compendum, which shows where on the chain Amplify Damage would come in, however, I'd like to calculate a formula I can use to replace such a hitpower with, say, more damage on a weapon when taking affixes into consideration. Here's how far I've gotten:

With '5% chance to Cast Level 1 Amplify damage on Striking' (1/20) and SLvl1 AD lasting eight seconds (200 frames), an attack speed no slower than 10FPA with exactly the amount of damage needed to replace it is required for the formula. If the attack speed is not exactly 10FPA, then more or less damage must be added to the weapon. Of course, attack speed differs on base items with different classes, and this must be taken into account.

So weapon base speed with +/- to various classes, including IAS on the weapon itself, and added damage near the beginning of the formula are needed to replace the doubling effect at the end. All of this knowing that strength and/or dexterity also factor depending on the weapon's equipping requirements as well as additional stats for armor or blocking. If this has already been discussed, point me in the right direction.

The effects of Amp really have nothing to do with "your damage". Amp is a 100% reduction in a target's physical resistance, so your calculated damage gets modified upon being applied to a particular monster based on their physical resistance. There'd have to be an input if this formula for monster physical resistance, which kind of defeats the purpose of creating such a general formula in the first place.

Also, the 5% ctc is random and cannot automatically be given a 10FPA breakpoint. Sometimes it will not trigger for minutes while sometimes it'll recast multiple times within a few seconds. Sure, on average it'll trigger every 8 seconds with a 10FPA attack, but when it doesn't cast that often you lose effectiveness while when it casts more often you don't gain any effectiveness.

Generally, I don't think such a formula would be very easy to put together or very useful (if it's a choice between high damage weapon and ctc Amp, get both: big weapon with Atma's Scarab).
