Hi all, I have a possible setup for you.

The 'Blessed Barbarian'
----------------------

1. Gear:

Helm: Arreat's face (no need to explain why)
Armour: Tyrael's Might (I have a pretty crappy one, but it works)
Weapon: A 'Kingslayer' runeword axe or sword
Shield: Phoenix runeword monarch, or similar
Gloves: IK gloves
Belt: IK belt
Boots: War traveller, IK boots, Gore riders (or anything else you want really)

Ring 1: Ravenfrost
Ring 2: Nature's peace, or Wisp projector, Manald heal for cheapo mana leach solution, or a decent dual leach rare.

Amulet: I personally liked Saracen's Chance, but this is open for interpretation too.

2. Skills:

Sword/Axe mastery: 20
Iron Skin: 10
Natural Resistances: 5 or so
Shout: as many as you can (max this out last)
Battle Orders: 20

Concentrate: 1
Berserk: 1
Whirlwind: 10 if you want it (I personally don't like it. Shocking, I know, but each to their own)

Whatever other skills you want.

3. Notes:

Leave concentrate at level 1, as once you are able to use the Kingslayer runeword, you will be using vengeance anyway, and keep berserk for the physical immune, magic resistant enemies you may face.

This build is not only effective in combat (in theory), it is also an effective tank / meat shield, but it looks really cool too.

I have begun the daunting task of trading for the other gear, but I realised something.

***Million dollar question:***
If I have an item that grants Slain monsters rest in peace, will the redemption aura from my shield still work?

If not, It becomes obvious that tyrael's might is now incompatible.
To overcome this, you could use a chains of honour, and still keep the 'look' of this build.

Obviously this build is expensive, but if someone could either attempt it and give me some feedback, or give me an indication as to potential flaws or holes in the build.

Please, all comments, rants, ravings, praise and addoration are welcome

RIP makes it so that bodies are unusable, rendering Redemption useless. Personally I'd drop the phoenix and use something else, like stormsheild.

Thanks for the prompt response, quietus.

I figured RIP would kill redemption, but I wanted to make sure.
I'll keep the Phoenix shield, as the redemption aura fits in with the 'image' of the blessed barbarian, and grab myself a Chains of honour or Treachery instead.

I'm really focused on making a somewhat different character, grabbing a theme and building the character around it.

I could turn the barbarian into an angel by giving him Treachery runeword armour. Imagine that, a translucent barbarian angel hurtling around and redeeming souls. Sounds cool to me. (In case that doesn't make sense, angels are alledgedly ethereal in appearance whilst on earth, as they leave their 'real' selves in the heavens, and send only 'representations' of themselves to earth.)

No No. IIRC Redemption can be used with Slain Monsters RIP.

However, Tyreal's Might doesn't really have that much going for it (Except insane coolness factor) so perhaps COH or a Treachery would be better.

He He... I can imagine this huge hulking guy running around going up to dying people and offering them redemption in a thick Austrian accent... He He... Make it!

Thanks Von.

"...in a thick Austrian accent..."
The mental image that accompanies that statement is hilarious indeed.
I'm actually Australian, so seeing a barbarian hurtling around harvesting souls in an over-the-top cliche' crocodile hunter accent would be even better.

I would max out shout instead putting 10 pts in Iron skin. Mostly because shout is party friendly, and gives about the same amount of def. Never calculated tho.
