Newcomer wants to make a singer

Hi there. Well, I finally bought this game, several years after it's release. I figured I might need a forum, where I can discuss it, so here I am.

So, here's my Barb's stats @ lvl 19.

Strength - 55
Dexterity - 45
Vitality - 55
Energy - 26

-Warcries
Howl - 5
Find Potion - 1
Taunt - 1
Shout - 1
Battle Cry - 2

-Combat Masteries
Sword Mastery - 1
Axe Mastery - 1
Mace Mastery - 1
Increased Stamina - 1

-Combat Skills
Bash - 1
Leap - 2
Double Swing - 2
Stun - 1

My question(s):
Did I screw it up? How badly?
Should I continue playing him, or make a new one?
How long time should I expect spending on a new character?

are you playing SP or on Bnet?
read some guides on the barb forum.
what i say is just try to play that barb maybe until hell act 1. then you could try an good build.
for barbs styck with only a weapon mastery. if untwinked then wait a little before spending points in mastery.
max Batlee orders is a must, huge life = safe barb
again lvl 19 is easy to get

I'm playing on BNet, and I'm being rushed by my higher level friend :)

I kinda had a second point with the thread, though. Say I started a new Barb, planning to go full singer - how would I manage? Would I need to get rushed all the way to a high level, or are Warcries alone, enough to solo?

I agree with Romper - singers are not a great starting choice. Even with mine, fully equipped with some top end items, I have a hard time taking down NIGHTMARE baal. I can't kill hell baal with him - and this is with top end gear, an insight merc, and a bunch of warcry charms.

Better starting characters are either summon necromancers, meteorb sorceresses, or if you're getting a bit of help from your friend, you could probably make a really nice hammerdin. A warcry barb is a terrible starting character. However, if you're dead set on doing this, at the very least, remember two things -

A) Do NOT spend any points into energy on anything but a sorceress using energy sheild
B) Use Insight, on this singer's merc. He'll need it.

Alright, thanks for the good answers. I'll wait with the singer for later, I just really like the idea of using warcry to kill stuff. :P

If that's the case, make the meteorb. An insight mercenary is still recommended (If you're on Ladder, these are incredibly cheap), but you'll be doing the majority of the killing yourself. Or, make a necromancer with maxed skeletons/skeleton mastery, and corpse explosion. Get a point into amplify damage, hit the enemies with that, skellies chop stuff, first thing dies, corpse explosion tears the rest apart.

Yeah singer is one of the more expensive builds and least affective in pvm and pvp.

You will have problems with 8 player games due to low dmg, physical immune monsters, bosses. although normal creatures should fall ok.

You can solo but mosto f the time u will find ur char heavily dependent on a merc.

Also this build requires a good merc with insight or something to deal with the mana probs.

singers are pretty cool if all you do is come into norm dueling games 19-20 and raid them lol.... thats about all that you can kill in pvp..However in PvP some badly equipped sorcs with no Bo get ezed too sometimes, same goes for Assasins with no bo... anything bigger/ boed and your barb will cry to death.
although your life / resistance should be amazing so you can tank almost anything and still manage to run.... :P
