View Full Version : BvC How much resistance?

Is it necessary for a BvC to stack all resistances?
I know lightning is very important but what about the others? For example, I only see fire sorcs use the fire element. Is having less than 75 resis in fire viable for dueling these types?
I am wondering because I started PvP with a bone necro and he couldn't take hits well even with high resis. I'm wondering if it will be a problem with a BvC.
Here's what I get from resis:
All: 60 (natural resistances) + 18 (torch) + 17 (anni) + 45 (um'd arreats) = 140
Cold: 140 (All) + 30 (trang gloves) = 170 resis
Lightning: 140 (All) + 35 (highlords) = 175
I am planning to get 4 x fhr/resis sc's and I'm trying to decide which resis I should go for. I originally planned for 4 x 11 light resis but I am unsure. Would it be better to balance my resis, i.e. 4 x 5 all resis?

of course you need to have some stack , as much as possible withought sacrificing too much.

75 in all. stacked heavily in light resist since most of the elemental chars will be lightning. A bit stacked on fire resist or just have hotspur in stash.
Also 4x 11light is the way to go.

My friend has some rare boots that has decent light and cold resis so that helps a bit.
And I'll get a pair of hotspurs. What should I do about the poison? Get treks?
Now I'm just worried about when I duel in pubs or in teams. I won't ever be able to have max resis in all resis at once. Is this fine? I keep thinking this is a reaction from my necro's bad experiences with sorcs.

yeah alot of stack is nice but i personally find light stack more important to me but this is the reason why i walk with 4x 5fhr sc with 11-10 light a 5fhr 5all res
and like 8x 20 life 11-10 light scs.
But that me cuz i find i run into alot of fohers.
But generally with hotspurs u should have enough stack.
also u still have kira which can give like a huge amout of all res stack.
and vs cold sorcs i usally wear ravens, trang gloves, dupe res boot and kira if i need.
And psn i just carry a pair of death gloves.

Is it worth sacrificing max/ar/life small charms for life/resis charms?
I assumed I would only have 4 charms to work with since the rest is anni, torch, and max/ar/life.

Only if it's a few charms. Not more than 5, as you might want to have some life/mana scs too.
The resistances you should worry about are Fire and Lightning. Cold sorcs will put you to like -100 unless you have about 260 cold resistances, which is half-impossible with BvCs pub setup. And you rarely meet any poison characters. For those use Treachery's Fade and a few antidotes before the duel. Will result in +50 poison resistances, +60 all resistances, and on-LCS 85 PR. that's about (with my 63 PR) 273 PR, which is about 60ish resistances after their Lower Resistances Curse and their 50ish Dwebs. By far enough. If you feel not safe even now, you can use Death's Gloves, they got 75% PR and 50% PLR. Results in 85% PR and 75% PLR, thus making their 9k novas into trash (57 over 0.5 seconds).
Remember to overstack at least 30 above 75% resistance, because when you die you get 30 resistance knocked off (anya bug) which you don't see on the LCS.
