Two Questions for the more experienced Paladins

Hello,

I am wearing a Thundergod's Vigor belt and presently have 85% lightning resistence. Can I improve that by adding points to resist lightning? Could I bump my lightning resistence to 90% with 10 lightning resistence skill points?

Second question...My might mercenary has a doom cryptic axe, Guilame's Face and Chains of Honor armor. If I socket the Guillame's face, what should I put in the helm?

2) Whatever he needs, e.g. res jool/um if he lacks res. (if you can afford it else just get another helm)
