This makes no sense

I have had diablo 2 LOD installed for years and just tried to play it again. When i put in the LOD cd the screen comes up that says, play, options, all that stuff. I click on play and it tells me to insert the cd. This makes no sense. It obviously reads it or that first screen wouldnt come up.

Not necessarily. The first screen is simply an auto-run module, but once you've started the game, it'll probably be doing some verification checks on the CD inserted, to ensure that it's the correct one, and failing that it would error out.
