socketing question for smite ?

Hi, just curious if you socket a shield with a 40/15 ias jewel would that work for smite and charge? Also same question regariding socketing a helm.

Charge does not use IAS, but otherwise, yes. Any +ED% jewel socketed into any armor type will work with both of those skills. IAS gotten from anywhere (not just armor) will help Smite as well, as long as you're reaching a breakpoint.
