Fanatic Zealot/Holy Freeze Question

I am back to Diablo after an 18 month break. I only play PVM. I used to play a Frost Zealot using a Nord's Tenderizer. I have read the Fanatic Zealot guide and would like to try that aura, but I like the Holy Freeze aura. How will I fair in Hell/Uber Tristram using recommended high level equipment, the Doom Berserker Axe to grant me the Holy Freeze Aura and using Fanaticism as the main aura. I would use Gimmershred on PI's. The Doom axe is pretty fast, with good damage and plus to skills. I am curious as to how much killing effectiveness I am sacrificing for my beloved freeze aura.

A Breath of they Dying or Grief (if you are on ladder) would give more damage. Unfortunately, even with points in Resist Cold, Doom's Holy Freeze damage is less than impressive, only giving you 350 average cold damage. The -enemy cold resist will boost this, but I'm not sure if it will be enough damage to justify the rune cost. If you just want the Holy Freeze aura, I don't feel Doom is worth the price. It is not needed for PvM. If you have the runes to spare, you could make Doom in a Polearm and put it on a Might merc, thus giving you more damage and slowed enemies.

How about using a BEAST caddy/beserk axe instead of Doom ? It is cheaper than Doom and give you lvl9 fana aura which you can easyly reach max zeal speed. Thus, you still can keep your beloved HF aura. Also, hire a might merc like Doctor Clock said to further enhance your physical damage :). Just give the merc a reaper's toll. Once the decrp kicks in, the monsters will be slowed a lot by it and your HF aura.

Also, +20% CB from beast also help you for Ubers hunting :)
