In an earlier post I had asked about points into energy for a Bnet MeteorOrb user, and the general consenus was base energy and an insight polearm. BUT what about Single-player Sorcs? Should I up my energy a bit then? Insight will sadly not work on offline chars.

There is a mod wich allows insight for single player (check the SP forum).
Even without insight energy becomes a vaste in the later levels (especially if twinked).
If you wan't an easier time time in the early levels and / or are untwinked you can put some points in energy (be aware that doing so will weaken you later on so don't put too many points in)

He's dead on. Acutally insight isn't really needed anyway. If you are planning to get to lvl 80+, you'll have plenty of mana. Just put 1 point in warmth and let your +skills do the rest. At level 90 I have more mana than I know what to do with, seriously. I'm at max casting speed for fireball and orbs and I can cast all day without ever seeing my blue orb drop. You don't need to put points into energy and you don't need insight either - they just make it easier when your in the low-mid levels. At higher levels, you'll regret that you wasted the points.

Single player sorcs can be difficult to start. If you are doing this completely vanilla and untwinked - no taint  and no gear transfering then you can add a few points into energy. Up to 75 base on the LCS though, nothing more. Having mana will not hurt you, and increasing your base won't be a drastic point eater.
I, however, am not an advocate on energy investment. Just eat the blues, and stock up whenever you need. It's workable, especially if you can come across + to mana gear. GL

its hard to play untwinked, but my fball sorc has base energy and no insight merc... fball drains mana like no toher, and I have about 500 mana with cheap gear (best is a perf fball ormus faceted). You have to drink a few pots, but you will be happy you saved the points.

I play single-player all the time, and have played 4 different sorcs so far - without Insight. My 2 cents opinion is that it is much better to 'tough it out' in the early game and not put any additional points into energy.
Blue potions are cheap, but once you spend those stat points they're gone forever.
Also, in early game get +mana from charms. Don't be scared of normal/magic quality socketed items too (Skulls and Sapphires in armor/helm, Eth/Tir runes in shields, and Tir runes in weapons - 3xPskulls in armor and in helm = +114% mana regen.). They can help you progress a lot from level 20-40, which is when you should start getting better equipment and your skills should start to kick butt too.
When you get the hell difficulty you'll appreciate those extra stat points to boost your life/block, and by then you probably won't have mana problems at all.

Thank you all for the input and patience with my questions. I guess for me the biggest prob has been the fact that a base energy build sorc seems counter-intuitive when one has been accustomed to having to pump any magic type stats on mage chars in other similiar games to Diablo. :)
